I haven't been able to find the information for when the apllications for the Brighton Marathon 2011 need to be in by. Anyone know the date or have a link?
Mr Playdo, it closed in September last year after opening in June.
The organisers had agreed that any entrants who then got a place in London through the ballot could return it. These entries went on sale in November and sold out in a morning.
No word on what arrangements will be for 2011 yet. As James says the council need to review it and the organisers will have to decide how they want to work things, especially whether they want to keep the London returns system.
they have a Twitter feed and Facebook page (go to the home page of the marathon for the links) so I guess that would be the best way of keeping updated with their 2011 plans for the mo
I ran this year and had decided that I would only run one marathon to prove I could do it, but by mile 23 I had decided I am going to do next year, I cant wait till they release the places, so I can do it again.
I spoke to one Hove resident last night who was not at all pleased at being unable to cross road all day, hopes very much that it does *not* happen again and is lobbying councillors to that effect. I put the case for the event but, depending on how many share her views, it might be necessary to make some adjustments to the route. I certainly hope to run next time (marshalled on Sunday.
"Brighton Marathon 2011 will be bigger and better, organisers have vowed.
The Argus can reveal that entry into next year's event will be open within the next three weeks in the hope of attracting two or three thousand more runners.
Race director Tim Hutchings also said that readers are helping to shape the future of the marathon as organisers look through comments and blogs left on websites.
Following the success of Sunday’s race a provisional date of May 7 has been set for marathon entries.
Mr Hutchings and his team are due to have a meeting with Brighton and Hove City Council tomorrow where they will discuss Sunday's event and plans for next year.
The Argus understands that if the race is given the go ahead, the second Brighton Marathon is likely to take place on Sunday April 10, the week before the 2011 London Marathon.
Mr Hutchings said: “We want to strike while the iron's hot because people are very keen to take part in the marathon again.”
Just to give you an advance heads up, the Worthing Churches Homeless Project who collected all of the discarded start line clothing (65 sacks full!) have washed it all and it will be going on sale in their shop tomorrow (Saturday 24th). Apparently there is a lot of running / sports related gear and from what I saw as I ran past, some of it is very good, so if you want to "update" your wardrobe and bag a bargain whilst helping a very worthwhile organisation then get on down to;
The Worthing Churches Homeless Projects Charity Shop
117 Montague Street
Worthing
BN11 3BP
They are open 6 days per week from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
Have a look at their web-site at: www.wchp.org to see the good causes they support and if you fancy trying something different, they have a sponsored "Zorb" coming up on the Downs here in Brighton.
7th May is the date which registration starts! The race is pencilled in for 10th April 2011.
Brighton has a festival during the month of May and there's no way that the marathon could be run during the festival as Preston Park is usually used for some events.
The official date for next years’ race is April 10, 2011 – and ENTRIES GO LIVE AT 10AM ON MONDAY 10TH MAY! Entry will again be on a first-come, first-served basis
Just read the email my email from Brighton Marathon. If you fill in the questionaire you are entered in to a prize draw to win 1 of 10 ipod, now that did make me laugh.

From what I have heard they have to have a meeting with the council to get future marathons approved before they can start planning the next one.
I don't think it will be a problem so keep checking the Brighton Marathon website.

The hype is building already so I'd think they have a pretty good case to take to the council.
Brighton "match for Boston" apparently.
Wobbled
I think there will be a rush for places next year
