<Mini Rant>
Given the huge range of colours available, why are tops invariably Pure White, Pure Black, Pure Blue, Pure Red, or some hideous combinations of one with an insert of the other?
Is there a good reason for designers limiting themselves to the 3 felt tip pens that you had at junior school when the rest of the world has realised that there's a wealth of subtle hues to be found between the retina burning primary colours.
Is there some unwritten law that the designer must have graduated from the Fisher Price school of colour selection before being allowed near running clothes? It doesn't seem so prevalent in other outdoor sports, so why are running hues so uniquely stuck in the 70's?

And does anyone make running tops in something more pleasant?

Given that I just sweat all over them, then throw them in the wash, I don't really care what colour my running tops are.
At least, as a bloke, you don't get a choice of pink, pink, pink and, well, pink in everything.
I quite like vibrant running tops, I really like my lime green running tops and rocket red (its really a posh name for orange) its nice to wear a bright colour that I could not get away with in my everyday life.. I think its the same reason why I like wearing my lyrcra skin shorts.
Just realised how camp that sounds.. perhaps there is a closet for me to come out of at some point .. lol
LOL! Top ranting Ian!
I quite like my bright green t-shirt (6€ from Decathlon). Fecking hideous but at least cars can see you.
Something a bit more earthy, browns, burnt oranges etc.
Something a bit more in tune with the countryside that I'm running though rather than the colours of the discarded crisp packet wafting across the trail by a carpark.
I do appreciate i'm sounding a bit gok, and anyone knows more normal state of attire would find it even more laughable
'Gok' and 'gopping' are new words for me.
<scribbles in notebook for future use>
I read the title as gapping not gopping
was just going to say shut up moaning and put some weight on........................but now i have learnt a new word
Are you trying to sneak up on the wildlife Ian?
Actually quite a lot of manufacturers use browns, greens, burnt orange etc. - have you tried outdoor manufacturers like north face rather than a dedicated running brand? They use the same fabrics.....
Well it is the start of the rutting season in the dogging spots of rural Hertfordshire, so it seems a shame to startle them
Yeah, at the moment I tend to wear TNF, Patagonia and similar. It just seems surprising that marketing departments for runners seem a bit limited in their outlook.
Canterbury do a nice pink for the lads.
If you can afford it icebreaker do some good earth tones, though for sheep you still want white.
Urban Dictionary has an alternative definition for the word 'gopping'.
I've got tops in pink, orange, maroon, earthy brown - maybe girls get more choice?
I can see the appeal of duller colours for running off-road but if I'm running along roads I like to be very visible to reduce the chance of getting run over. I suspect that's why bright colours are more popular.
and I wish they did a similar one for on foot.
It's just the shit primary ones I can't stand
The big things are too depressing to think about
This may seem a stupid question, but why can't you just wear that one for running as well as cycling??
Too hot for running.
LOL!
How dare someone start such a trivial thread.
Bigger things to worry about include:

Think that's an own goal D2D
What about Foska? http://www.foska.com/running-vests/?sef_rewrite=1
ooh - even get free pasta when you buy a running top.
Wahey! Straight from the Chinese warehouse!
During the working week I have to wear very sober business suits and sensible ties. When running I like to dress up like a superhero in lycra and day-glo primary colours and run about in public.
I had never realised just how odd this is until now.
