Looking back I saw Ali Bongo getting confused between messages about it being a tough course and people also getting PBs. What can I say other than both points are correct !!! This is a reasonably undulating course although no realy hills. However my second best time ever (and opnly by 2 seconds) is on this course. I think it is because it is harder in the first half and there if a long downhill section from about 9.5 to 11 miles and then flat into the finish (apart from a slight incline of 400M towards the end of the 13th mile.
Thanks for that, I've had a bit of a look at the profile sent with the race no. too and tried to plan my pace for the different stages.
It's finally starting to thaw here in Notts, so with any luck further south should be free of ice & snow and hopefully should be a good race
Brooks the beast - thanks for your info above - any chance of an update tonight as to whether there's likely to be any ice (or snow) tomorrow morning? Otherwise, best of luck everyone. Do it for the pudding!
So did everyone find it? I was FREEZING at the start but soon got warm. I had a really good run and managed to slice off 6 mins off my last years time so am pleased. Good atmosphere , dont remember it being this busy last year though? My shirt comes down to my knees though as I didnt know you could get it before the race and by the time I finished there were none left in my size!! Oh well I know for next year! PS Even saw some deer prancing around in a field!!
Yep, well chilly at the beginning, but soon warmed up and the gloves soon came off. The hills were really long gradual ones, so didn't seem too bad and I finally broke 2hrs and nice to get a medal you can wear.
Thanks to Bedford Harriers, the organisation is spot on. The marshals must be selected based on how happy and outgoing they are.. Nice to see so many ladies in this race too.
Bedford Half is my scrabble around at the last minute to get an entry for when Luton Marathon gets cancelled. I'm putting this in the calendar for next year though. Speaking of which, I bet Bedford Harriers could organise a great Marathon!
Mile 9/10 is great, recorded my fastest ever KM split today. Then realised that is what the winner must have averaged!
I thought I spotted you at the end USB, loooong hills and I must admit the downhill wasn't as steep as I'd hoped, so didn't quite roll down them as planned.
It was just at the end in the changing rooms, didn't see the name but not quite the place to make reintroductions, half-dressed heading to the shower .
Good Luck for the Comp, really happy for you. You've got lots going for you !
Wasn't prepared for it, hated every minute whilst running it - PB by 9 seconds. Aim for better next year now I 'know' the course.
Marshalls were great, in fact the whole organisation was, so thank you all.
Plenty of fast runners out there as I got passed an awful lot even though I started at the right time stagger. Must learn how to run downhill to at least keep pace with those that flew past me this time.
Foxsake the link's not working, I got a message saying album not found. Please could you try it again? The official guy missed me as there was juggernaut jousting going on when I passed him!
Thanks to Bedford Harriers for another great event - the atmosphere's brilliant, and this is turning into a must-do race on the calendar every year for me. Although if you could flatten out those hills a bit.......

Hi
I'm now not able to run tomorrow as I've come down with the lurgie. If anyone would like my number then please let me know.
I only live a couple of miles from the start so can be collected en route to the start line.
Thanks
Nicky

it's a tough course for anyone not used to HM's believe me
for a seasoned runnner it's just another HM , but setting off gently and working into it and taking on fluid should be fine
not that i'd know
forecast does look spot on folkes
have a great day all of u
Hey Alex, we were running together last weekend, you did well. it would be nice to catch up tomorrow if we get the chance.
Good Luck

nice wasn't it...got a PB in 75.05, so pleased with that, although pleased i didn't need sub 75 for a london place LOL!!!
Hilly, but manageable, last 4 miles flat.

Great way to finish off the running year..
Yes Bongo - pleased I went for just the vest and shorts today - and the sunnies were a godsend! the glare from the road was a nightmare...
Luckily I know the bit from Cranfield really well, so felt confident to push it

A miracle - at long last I actually broke through the 1.40 barrier. Not only broke it, smashed it at just over 1.37 !!!
Which of course led to some celebratory beers, then more beers, then all a bit of a blur.
At least today's hangover is taking my mind off the aching legs !!
For those wondering why their result is not in thepowerof10.info, it does not have a UKA license so won't be included..
