A shiny brand new, just out of the box marathon!
Steve Cram is organising a road Marathon for May 6th 2012. Details are on this link. £30 if signed up before the end of November. Starts and Finishes in the Stadium of Light in Sunderland.
I think this will be my replacement for the abject event that was Edinburgh this year.
Anyone else fancy it?

If I wasn't doing London I'd be tempted by this one.
My folks live only live a few miles away.
Entered yesterday. Should be good!
And a perfect time of the year for me too......
Thanks for posting!
Have got myself booked, looking forward to a good local Marathon
anyone else doing both?
im w8ing to see bout next oct yet as kielder and liverpool all bout the same time. also like to do cumbrian run as its my home race. if its best marathon ill make a point of tring to squeeze it in
I have just signed up.
I did the kielder Marathon for the last two years and they were well organised so this should be good.
I have done the 10k race here for the last three years (two when it was the great north 10k before they moved it to Gateshead) so it will be a shame to miss it but I wanted to bag another new marathon!
Isn't it time that this thread was resurrected? Could be a lonely run for me if there are not many doing it.
London then Sunderland for me.
If Steve Cram thought that was flat, no wonder he broke world records, what a great day out though, very good run, really well organised, and after the running the Manchester Marathon from Hell last week who'd have thought I'd get sunburned one week later
Yes, describing i tas flat was a little naughty, given the final 3 miles were a constant climb. Having said that despite the desolate streets of Sunderland in the early part of the race it was very well organised. There was a good spirit amongst the runners and the stadium start and finish meant that there was no lack of facilities. Perfect weather too which was a blessing because I am not sure it would have been too much fun in the pouring rain and howling winds.
I hope there has been sufficient interest in the run for it to continue for future years as it can only get better with more support.
