Olympic distance tri on Sunday for me. Oh and new bike arrived today. Test ride tomorrow to see whether to use current bike(alloy, tiagra) or new one (carbon, 11sp ultegra, better rims).
I normally have a three week taper.where I just about stop doing everything........My body tells me that I have to rest..maybe my age.maybe just my nature.....but this usually works well for me........
This year because I have a major event 2 weeks after Outlaw........I think my body has not sent me the signal to rest yet.....as its working to that date.........I am doing less but not ready to stop.....
I think come this weekend I will get the signals and stop training.......
hopefully
we are all different so don't worry what anyone else is doing.........The important thing for those who are doing their first is don't be tempted to do more than your plan says.......
and if your body tells you to drop some sessions and rest then do so......
you have done the hard work.....you need to arrive at the start line uninjured and feeling fresh and ready to enjoy the day
Myself and Jordy are on transition entrance Sunday morning 04:15 - 6:00 the helping out in the change tents after that, so looking forward to seeing you all then.
Morning Seren. You mentioned that people doing the relay will not be allowed back into transition. My concern is that SA and Jordy are manning the transition tents Its going to be interesting if I am not allowed in after my swim
Mrs SA.I thought i had read it in one one of the emails they sent out..you can probably find out in registration and I;m sure they would let you through..
The Team Event Only one person is required to register for the whole team, but will be required to either show ALL of the 2014 BTF Race Licences or pay for the relevant amount of day licences. All relay team tags will take place in the following areas: 1. Swim to Bike – On the perimeter road between the side & main transition area, directly by the swim exit. Team swimmers are not required to remove their wetsuits before tagging nor should they pass through the change tent, unless they are also completing the cycle section. 2. Bike to Run – On the perimeter road between the side & main transition area, directly after passing the team cyclist has passed their bike to the marshals. Team cyclists should not pass through the change tent unless they are also completing the run section. All tagging will take place by passing the Timing Chip to the next team member
thats what i was reading......maybe they just mean you must hand over the chip first
Please note that Relay Teams with 3 members will NOT be issued with transition bags, only Individuals or Relay Teams with 2 members will pass through the Change Marquee.
the bit that said no transition bags...just sounded like they were keeping relay people out/.........
If anyone wants to use a locker they are in the main building there are quite a few in the normal centre changing area. Well they are for the men's sure will be for the ladies as well.
Depending on if you want a shower after worth sticking some stuff in those locker's and sticking the key in your transition bag or something. Means you don't have to carry much straight after or faff about to much.
Comments
maybe I will drop them an email and ask so I can plan ahead and not end up faffing about at 5:30 when I should be getting into my wetsuit!!
I shall get round to reading the race info at some stage but any old hands who can let me know if anything drastic has changed??
Meldy the run route has changed from previous years, it confused me but then I'm easily confused.
Oh that's ok, I'll hardly be leading the way
Contrary to the Nice race pack you read, you do, in fact need a bike for this triathlon melds.
How are the tapers going folks? Is anyone doing anything "unconventional" (barking mad) in the last 10 days?
taper.whats that.....Outlaw is just a training session for me......75 miles on the bike today with lots of hills...Outlaw is hilly isn't it

Right i'm off to West Sussex for a four day canoeing trip with a group of yr 7 and 8's...perect taper
Don't let the year 8's bully you just because you're new to big school.

oh, so the email they sent me responding to my query about relay teams, where they said:
'You will be given transition bags, but we advise you not to keep valuables in the transition area, please use the lockers provided.'
confused now oh well, just go with the flow on the day - and give my stuff to MrsD
