G was in SCBU last time, if I'd of gone onto the red and hadn't be able to get any petrol I would have driven straight to the hospital and camped there.
Yep, I know it. Will try my luck at Sainsburys first then head up to the ones on the A26 in Southborough then.
With a 55 litre tank it ain't gonna be cheap but I've just had six weeks of working from home, so I can't complain about going back to an 80mile round trip twice a week.
Last time we had the fuel strikes I had a diesel that did 800 miles on a tank and only a 30 mile round trip to work.
Barley - I did 160 miles a day to and from work for six months when I first graduated and it was horrid. How do you deal with it and train....or is that why you get beaten by girls? <runs away quickly>
I would happily use public transport some of the time but today i needed to get to work and took the tram (Metrolink) - £3.40 return and £3.40 on buses ..ts16 miles return trip - although it was reasonably quick but ridiculosly crowded - its just too expensive at nearly £7 a day
the bus - less frequent and slow because of all the other traffic is £3 return but it takes nearly an hour to get work -8miles
Hmm, public transport ain't an option for me - our nearest station is a 10 mile drive, £3 a day for parking, then £21 for the journey with no seats and three changes that would add an extra hour to my day.
Metrolink (Tram) in Manchester is very expensive - its fast but at rush hour crazily overcrowded -im pretty low paid so spending 30 quid a week or 120 quid a month on travel is just too much - the bus is more reasonable - a 3quid day ticket but its the time it takes - adding at least 30 -40 minutes to each journey ..hence the car
Personally, I think they should get what the miners got - we're supposed to be a meritocracy and I believe that the rabid right are just as much entitled to a good kicking from the bobbies as the loony left.
... and they should make updated versions of Billy Eliot and Brassed Off- that will teach the feckers to behave themselves.

Lets not overlook that the govt are getting a HUGE % of the fuel cost back as tax... I don't know the figures, but isn't it about 50% or more..??
at the lack of a better protest/show of hands - I will support this one
this was on the front page this morning .....
fuel blockade
Fuel Protests
snap!
It was the Shell garage on the TW side of Tonbridge, by the roundabout... it is always a bit cheaper than others... do you know the one..?

I actually need to get fuel tomorrow.
Grumble grumble.
Leave some for me.
I find myself in agreement with Mr Blaze.

Trains are great.

Just as an idle thought:
Rabid lefties block oil refineries to protest at Planet Killing oil companies = Bad
Rabid right wingers comfortable with planet death as long as petrol stays cheap = OK.
Discuss.
Because of course the protests had a huge effect on government fuel tax policy last time.................!!!!!
I'll carry on cycling to the train station and riding the train to work.
I think sooner or later the combustion engine will have had its chips and the way people live will need to change.
Did people commute 50 miles to work before the car - doubt it really.
I think we will need to change our habits big time.

Not sure that the increase is due to taxes, the price of crude oil is to blame, not a lot the government will do about that.
Now costs me £70 a week to get to and from work
