er.............."I take my hat off to you". Said in French very often on the Eurosport TdF commentaries as just "chapeau" to a particularly super performance.
Imeccentric - I believe you have a moral obligation to put that on Youtube. Then post a link. Look to your heart - you know it's the right thing to do.
I've just read over this thread and the piratey support is, as ever, tremendous. Sean kept filling us in on the messages through the weekend, and it was fab.
I'll write a little crew-report later when my brain is actually working again but here are 3 tantalising titbits in the meantime:
- Zuppy as the only racer without a wetsuit and still bloody damn fast
- Lindi as the only triple racer not to stop on the bike leg for a sleep - what a trooper!
-Candy repeatedly having to teach me to run the straightest line and not stick religiously to the edge of the road, and the utter serenity of running in the dark with the Milky Way as a nightlight.
-ZLC - living the dream!
Special thanks to to Sean who is now an honorary pirate I think, and definitely went above and beyond the call of duty this weekend!
Thanks all. Always an orsum race, but this weekend was the best ever due to the company, esp niall, mel, lindi & sean - but numerous other yanks, brits & canucks, too. Livin the dream, man. Livin the dream!
It amazes me what some of us human people can do - I couldn't imagine ever taking on any part of the challenge that team ZLC has just completed. You have my utmost respect (I'm not a gushy sort being a gritty highlander!)- to have done such an fantastic race I can't quite get to grips with but I hugely admire the 3 of you.
I was genuinely impressed with the times for each leg - truely remarkable..
I almost wish I could have been there for the first 1.5 days (ummm... not really, but it sounds good) helping out with Zuppy and Lindi. I did what I could for Candy, though I guess Melissa, Lindi, and Zuppy may have passed out at some point during the night and Candy would have been left to his own devices out on the course.
It was an impressive weekend in every regard. Chapeau! to the team and crew. Esp to Melissa for grading papers and handing up bottles at the same time... She hasn't made any sense whatsoever for about 2 full days, but I'm sure she'll come 'round.
It was excellent to meet everyone and help make the race a success...
Lindi, I just gave in and said I would do the triple next year. Zuppy arrived home in the wee small hours and all I've managed to get out of him so far is
- He slept with Candy (gaylod theoryQ.E.D.)
- you can only drink beer out of gatorade bottles in state parks
- Sean really knows his stuff about bikes
-Lindi is a machine
- 30 minute miles are considered good pacing in a triple IM rub
- UK airport security is much better than US homeland security. 10 min versus 2 hours!

Hi everyone, just got home about 2 hours ago.
Eccentric is clearly scared I'll talk him into racing the triple next year and so has left the country!
Thanks to everyone for the support and especially to Mel and sean - you were orsum!
I'll get a race report together soon, but in the meantime I need to say thanks to the guys at Sigma Sport for sorting out lights for me.
Go to bed Lindi!!
I was hoping to have a bath but just discovered my bolier is caput - it's a bit chilly here.
I have a meeting at 10.00...
Candy the Boiler. Did Candy make boilers...?
That's a bit rubbish Lindi - curl up in a corner perhaps?
aaaa she's back.
Well done you!
Much respect!
