I think the problem was caused by failing to clip in and slipping off my pedal landing rather hard on the nose of my saddle - the first time hurt, the second time was really painful... after the third time I learnt to clip in!
Excellent! The double is a bit gay though Mel, I think you should reconsider...
All the people who said "too short notice, maybe next year" when I was trying to put a team together... I kept the emails! Will be in touch!
Zuppy & I planned exactly which bit of the transition village to snaffle for a pirate camp next year for maximum effect (basically the stretch between where kathy & michel were camped). It's in the shade in case it gets hot again, and you can see right up the hill for when people are finishing run or bike laps.
We also discussed what to do next year... I might do the whole triple again, or just the run bit, or just volunteer to help kirb out. If there are two or three pirate teams plus sean, that should do for pirate-specific crewing, so general event crewing might be more useful.
Arthur is in his 70s. Dan Jensen is 60, and has 1 leg. The relay team that whooped our asses were 50 and (about) 45. The average age is mid-40s. The person who gaylorded out of it half way through because "he wasn't mentally prepared" was the only person under 22.
Like any ultra-thing, age isn't a barrier. Young, fast, fit people are more interested in tougher challenges, like going really fast in an olympic!
The whole event was totally flagtastic, typical yanks. We did finish to the Irish national anthem though, which is much better than the crappy British one.

Belive me - triple IM rub is not good!
I was thinking of the kind of rub you get given after the event?
how many times did you change your shorts?
I didn't have time to change my shorts!

good, I'm glad you were tough enough not to have to stop to sleep and shower and change and all those wussy things ; - )
Well done Lindi!
Double ouch on the rub!
So a double isn't crazy...
Ironman rub - oooh, new sport!

Surge!
Well done Lindi I have no doubt you were the linch pin, anchor girl thingy.
Can I also thank Sigma for helping out with the lights
Nah, I was going to help out with the lights but a last minute logistics hitch put paid to well laid plans.
It may of been but unusually not on my part.
Holly, do you realise if you re-arrange the letters in your above post, ignore some of them and add a few more you end up with the sentence.
Where do I sign up for the triple next year

"Oh say can you see,
By the dawn's early light"
Etc

I just got woken up by a phone call telling me I've won a holiday to the Carribean - but there isn't a triple there so I turned it down!
Just remembered I left my race report on Sean's fridge.....
10 - livin' the dream
I reckon my shorts would be welded to bits they shouldn't be after those distances running and on the bike.......
Glad you all made it back safely - still awesmacked......
