Not signed onto the thread for ages. Will it be ok to come along on the Sunday and have a crack at the bike and then the run? Will give me a nice 'recovery' after the Manchester Marathon the week before
Also if need some help on Sat for a few hours let me know the best time and I'll pitch in.
Trundle ... no problem. Last year i just did the swim and the bike. I couldn't run due to sciatica. If you could help on the sat, that would be great. The more the merrier!
I might cut the run a bit short. Not gone further than 5 miles for ages. And I'm only up to 1200m swimming in the pool and 40 miles on the bike so will see how I get on and judge what distances I want to do on the day. Great to be able to do that, top work Mr and Mrs SA.

Soup Dragon - As a shorter alternative may I suggest;
Swim - 1500m. Instead of the standard 1900 meters (76 lengths) Why not push yourself up to 60 lengths/1500m.
Bike - 39.42km or 24.5 miles. This is 5 laps of the bike course.
Run - 10.14km or 6.3 miles. This is 2 laps of the slightly shorter old run course.
And there you have a very nice little challenge over the Olympic distance.....this is assuming it is ok'd by the governing body normally they are very nice
Seren - if that stops your "problem" in T1 then the answer is yes.
Thanks for the suggestion Marshallini. I was pondering a 1500m swim but thought about pushing to 50 miles on the bike and 10 miles on the run with a good number of walking breaks, and with the option of cutting that down to 6 if my legs don't want to play any more. That would be a nice little warm-up for Enduroman half the following month.
Meet up at ours. We all then head over to the Leisure Centre (en route there will be a meeting point where you will be given a rundown of the bike/run course, bearing in mind SA will have put signs up round the course). The pool opens at 10:00, but obviously we will all need to be there in plenty of time to rack bikes etc etc.

I was thinking that instead of 12-15 people all queueing up to pay, that one person collects the (correct) money and pays for everyone, it'll save loads of time (this is assumimng SA hasn't already sorted something out with the center)
Sounds like a plan. Will keep my eye on here. Hopefully fingers crossed for bike being roadworthy by then an especially this Wednesday as I have a race. My chain snapped in Sunday whilst racing. Waiting for wiggle to deliver new one!
now i need details about the bike course to know which bike to bring.or set up to use........for the first time ever I have a choice....
so how many miles is each loop..how much climbing..any straight bits.any falt bits.....any nasty nasty nmasty hills.......dowbhills are they technical or normal.
Hmmmmm, very little flat, its rolling, no nasty nasty hills, one hill but its very short and you can spin it sat down or attack it stood up. There are a couple of bits you can get aero on. No massive technical descents, last year Marshallini did it on his TT as did Mrs SA. There are 2 fairly sharp left hand turns, one of which I will brush as it covered in loose gravel at the moment
Slagiatt said the course reminded him of IM Wales without the big climbs.
Maybe someone that did it last year can help as its a lap we ride all the time
IMO its not really a TT bike course seren, like Q said theres a few bits that you can get your head down but as soon as you get your groove you have to either climb or corner

As a non-sanctioned race, has Lance put his name down?
not long to go. got a small matter of a freezing cold olympic ditance to sort out this weekend first!
Hmm, may have to introduce urine testing, we could call it
"taking the piss"
Seren will give a urine sample without being asked by the sounds of it.

I'll be bringing my running shoes along just in case I can get out on the run course at some time for a half marathon blast

Morning Ozzy

Oh by the way ... i will give everyone a bag to put your goggles, earplugs, swim cap in after the swim, which i will collect and take back to ours.
Full instructions will be posted up here 2 weeks before the event
Mrs Sa..I will have to have a big bag to put in my earpluds, noseclip, hat, goggles and pullbuoy
Seren - carrier bag?

This is a major race for me........

That said you do end up changing gears at lot
Ozzy......My OH is doing the duathlon ...so if we make adjustments for my swim..then its a race between the two of us
he hasn't ben on a bike for a year...........but is run fit.....
Ozzy - its not race for me. I don't even race at "races" lol. I complete rather than compete. And sometimes I don't even complete.
I have finally bought myself a tent, is there still room in any of the local gardens? Hoping the weather will be good by May
