Looking forward to this! Thanks loads Matt! I kinda hope it snows, but that it still goes ahead. I like running in fresh snow....just not the nasty frozen slush!
Heard lots of good things about it! I like doing a new race that has great reviews....
Getting there shouldn't be an issue unless there is massive snow fall... The start is only 1 mile from the motorway, and the main road through Helsby to Frodsham (where the park and ride is ?) is a busy main road and bus route
Latest forecasts has the snow tracking further south - so the NW may get away without too much snow - if any. Still going to remain cold though - remember those gloves.

Appreciate that info Dave, when you have a ways to travel and dont know the area its good know its close to main road/bus route etc.
The race actually starts on the main road ! and The park and ride is at Helsby School wich is about 2 miles from the start, So that road should be clear....
Yeah - I expect so too. But, Helsby probably has had quite a bit of snow today, and if that doesn't melt in the next few days could be slippery underfoot come sunday. Not sure how much of route will be on treated roads...isn't some of it on a cycleway?

I'm not worried about racing in the ice/snow - well, not too much; but I am worried about getting there.
Same here, have a journey of approx 60 miles to get there. If the weather turns out to be as bad as predicted there is no way will be able to make it.

Dave there is a lot of the white stuff heading towards us tomorrow should be cleared by sunday but you never know.
Not worring standing up at the sky and wishing for 6ft of snow.
You miss understand me sir will be racing regardless of the conditions just want snow in general.

Just been out, mainly on Frodsham Hill but the roads were fine. Even took my gloves off towards the end

I'm just about to go and run it !
Still no sign of snow tho
forecasts changed again - more snow for NW tomorrow now - how exciting!
Dave - if you don't mind any weather updates over the weekend will be very useful...
Update on Helsby half website:
17 Jan: Some light snow in the area this evening, nothing substantial. The key days for a decision will be Friday and Saturday.
Lots of snow in Shropshire now
Is there somewhere warm that members of my family can wait and drink/eat while race is on? Anything fun for kids?
It's at a sports club so there's a bar/function room and usually a BBQ going too.
So - how many feet of snow is Helsby currently under?
http://www.helsbyrunningclub.org.uk/ for the latest news.
I'd wager it will be on.
Quite a lot of snow has fallen in the North West since their last update, so will be interesting to see if there is an update later.
