Thought I would tag on Dave's thread rather than start one.
Due to family holiday I don't think I will get to do Outlaw half (notts) again next year like I wanted so I am looking for another half to do either the week or a couple of weeks before within a couple of hours of nottinghamshire.
There might be one near Stamford in June 2017 at a superb venue..... so only 45 mins or so from Notts.... will keep you posted on whether it gets off the ground or not....
lets be honest.... its all prep for an Ironman on my 100th birthday
To be fair Dave, the swim in Bala in 2011 was so choppy that more often than not you were catching air not water, so maybe it's fair to say there's a lot less drag in a Bala Lake swim than anywhere else?
Having done Bala middle yesterday I can confirm its hilly although described as undulating which to me means hilly.Don't think the heatwave helped.Finished in 6.24. The run was very up and down and the cycle climbed a fair bit also.
Simo - you mean you have rescheduled your "training camp" for Easter - you sell it to the wife as a family holiday, you just forget to tell her you have packed the wettie, trainers and bikebox...

The wetsuit will be packed, a bike will have to be hired but the hills of lanzarote will be calling.

I will see how I get on with my first full distance at The Outlaw this year. I am tempted by Bolton next year.

Bala is pretty hilly isn't it?
Nah... Bala's pretty much flat
IM 70.3 Staffs is mid june
cotswolds 113
or look at the Titan events
to be fair - Bala is my half PB course
(caveat - when I used to be fit)
Apparently even the swim is hilly !!!
Although was there on Sat, and it did look rather nice.
It's an out & back swim up hill both ways !

Is that because only about 10 people finished? hehehehe
Hmmm, I'm certainly not a lightweight racing snake, but I could pretend to be if I can use it as my excuse for bailing that year?
Th weather that day was described as biblical down in the New Forest.....an apt description
managed a 4:51 in Bala in 2008 - as I say - a loong time a go !
So green card has been sanctioned for the following 2017 events :
May - IM Lanzo
June - IM Austria (if I get in) or Outlaw as a backup
Sepetmber 70.3 Croatia - Pula
December IM Western Australia
I can confirm that it was indeed, biblical.
as summed up in my Quin report " Meteorological Armageddon of biblical proportions "
Thanks for the advice everyone just decided to make the family go on holiday in Easter

oooh nice - may see you out there
Since I've 'outed' myself in other social media I can happily say I'm signed up for Lanza next year (Bolton just doesn't have the sunshine)
Other than that it's pretty difficult to tell them apart eh
Yay! Cannot wait for Lanza 2017 - The Return
