hmm, don't think i'll wear my pirate kit. although i did add teh all in one skinsuit to my pirate collection on friday. but i don't think world's quite ready to see me in that yet.
You all did sooo well! I really enjoyed marshalling this race & everyone was sooo friendly! (& I got a hug from Mick!)
I was between mile 6 & 7, kinda stood in the middle of the road on the bend trying to keep you all safe from cars tearing round the corner!(Hope I didnt get in anyones way...there was a scary incident with a tractor at one point!
Hope everyone got round without a hiccup. Sorry I didnt bring jelly babies, but I thought they might slow you down..
I completed it in 78 minutes, which was 2 minutes quicker than planned, just about had enough left for a sprint for the last 1/2 mile. I spoke to some of the pirates who where their. I glad I was not doing the 20m as the car park seemed more than 1 mile away.
Enjoyed the race today..but did not go to plan..went of far too quickly and ran first 5 in 34.40...then fell apart for 6, 7 and 8...any chance of pb had gone so coasted in to finish....had a good run in with a pleasant young lady for last half mile, then a fabulous, if somewhat painful massage!
Well done to all, and thanks to the marshalls and RRR.
Great marshalls (thanks to them all - and i remember shortstop in the road - good work), great course, great competitors.
I had a great race. Met tractor boy and few other new and old faces. mick and phil overtook me after a few miles. i ran along with a couple of the pirates for 5 miles then we split with one going slower, me a little faster the the other guy faster still.
came in in 1:38 for the 10 miler which i'm pretty pleased with given i only run twice a week and my longest run since sept has been 6 miles. will return for another crack at it next year. maybe do the 20 miler if i think i can go sub-3.
2:44 and a bit for me - glad to have made it round, despite going off way too fast (nothing new there!)and it was a lot more 'fun' than doing the distance by myself.
Seemed to be mostly uphill though - which I just couldn't figure out
Excellent race and heaps of praise to the Marshalls, especially shortstop who I remember from both laps, a enourmous cheery smile and encouragement, thank you.
My race went well, put in a steady effort finishing in 3.40, wasnt really running hard as didnt want to mash my legs badly but was nice to finish feeling strong.
Only slight gripe was the few number of drinks-hander-outers at one or two stations, or people who only held out one (rather than two) cups. Twice I had to check my stride and sort of double-back to grab one.
Congrats to all. Well done. Shortstop, you were obviously sooooo good at your job, you are bound to get asked again!!!!!
Sorry about the water station; one scout troop were no-shows but didn't let us know.
A long day, safely home, glass in hand. Even though we do this every year, we always learn each time something we could improve on, so any feedback is excellent. Fortunately our greatest panics are lagely in the background, and as long as the runners don't get affected; it's only the premature aging of the race committee we have to worry about.
Good to see you again M&P; we'll hope to see you next year.
ShortStop - You have a lovely smile and I wish I had followed Micks idea and given you a hug. Well done, its nice to see a friendly face when grinding out a race.
I received a text from Race Ahead telling me my gun time was 3:05:18 and Chip time 3:04:10. I am pleased with that and thanks to all the other friendly Marshals for their encouragement.
What did everyone get in their goody bag? I got a drink, a mars bar, energy gel and the race towel. You have got to give it to Reading Road Runners, they are very original with their prizes.
Great race today and thanks to all the marshalls for their support.Lots of friendly runners too. Thanks also for the lovely quilted toilet rolls in the ladies loos, much appreciated:-)

Marshalling and support first rate.

But otherwise a good day. Thanks to everyone.
