Good to see so many people with Justgiving pages. Well done to everyone.
Also a quick note to let people know that we'll be at FLM Expo on Stand 42 armed with digital camera so if anyone wants a picture of themselves with their running number on their pages, you know where to come.
Another quickie is that in the last week we signed up the Anthony Nolan Trust which I know a lot of people are fundraising for, so visit their section, click the yellow "view events" button and build a page if you'd like to top up your efforts or start fundraising.
I'm putting down a grand - my place is through VICTA.
Noticed above that some people are actually running for Shelter - I'm pretty damn annoyed at those people. First started talking to them about running for them last June - it got to late February this year and they still couldn't bother to tell me whether or not they were going to give me a place. Incredibly arrogant of them - their attitude was more of "we're doing you a favour by letting you run" than "thank you for offering to raise lots of money for us".
Iwas lucky to get a ballot place so I am running for the lincolnshire & nottinghamshire air ambulance £800 so far but it's still coming in. Even managed to sell advertising space on my running vest!
Running for the Still Birth and Neonatal Death Society. Was hoping to raise £1000 but looks like it will be nearer £2000 when I complete. As to the amounts charities ask people to raise unfortunately for the larger charities they seem to need big amounts but smaller charities will be absolutely delighted with any amount (and awareness of their charity) as in real terms it is just as big to them. I think most charities (if not all) are grateful for the funds. Although have to wonder about the ones that give incentives to run for them (free moutain bike, flights etc - these have to be paid for from somewhere), why not just lower the total people need to raise and therefore it will not be such a huge burden on them. As it does pray on your mind if you can reach your target when you start.
I'm not running for charity but am sponsoring a few others.
In the past week I have learned that one child at my daughter's secondary school died from secondary cancer following childhood leukemia. Then that a woman I used to work with is dying of leukemia; the Anthony Nolan Trust is trying to find her a bone marrow donor that matches. She is 35, has a 5 yr old son and was 5 months pregnant when treatment started, and lost the baby.
Anyone running for children with leukemia and ANT has a special good wish from me.
Thanks for the boing - I had completely missed this. Congrats to all who are raising and thanks to all that have sponsored - every penny counts (it isn't just a saying, it's true).
Am shuffling for National Blind Children's Society again this year. The scores on the doors are currently just over three grand, not including my bid to match the largest single donation.
oh my god, I am sitting here laughing at myself so much at the moment. A couple of months ago when I first saw 'boing' used in a thread I thought someone was saying 'boring' but had forgotton the 'r' and I couldn't believe it!
As time went on and I kept seeing it coming up in threads I knew it couldn't be 'boring' but was too embrassed to ask what it actually was!
Now I that I know, I am sitting here laughing hilariously....
so....boing..........here we go again back to the front of all the threads!
have started dropping leaflets round the leafy avenues of waqndsworth and emailing round the city.just gone through £2k. any money you raise is good money, just hope your charity will spend it wisely...
anyone who wroks for a company that doesn't do give as you earn should check this out.even if you don't get matching donations from your company as i am very lucky to do,gaye allows you and your colleagues to build up a charitable donation war chest from gross salary,so when someone comes along and says would you sponsor me to-run marathon, base jump off the roof, shave off all my hair for comic relief etc you're paying a net £30 for every £55 donated(government adds 10%).if your company does matching donations then £30 net buys you £110 of giving power...
tell your hr people about it... .with this in place and a justgiving page, you're sorted...
Hi folks, About £800 already collected and should be up to around £1300 when the pledges are in. I had a target of £1000 for the Muscular Dystrophy campaign so should reach that - http://www.justgiving.com/26miles2go
Martin House Hospice for terminally ill children near Wetherby , about 5 miles from where I live. I was a late starter in fundraising (a week ago!) but I hope to raise about £500-600.
Good work and good luck to all fundraisers, have a great run.

i have no connection to this organisation-but it makes people somehow more generous if they're giving away gordon brown's money...
So you mission (should you decide to accept it) is to raise £6,500 in the next 16 days.
