I guess Kennedys will be full of runners... any way we RW peeps can spot each other?
I suppose I could carry a copy!
MF - I'm easy to spot. I have long blonde hair, a funny accent and two little girls who I am going to make wear Liverpool bobbles! (better than me wearing a carnation)!
I will also be the one sobbing in the corner because I've notched up 600 miles in training for this and I'll be (sadly) in jeans, not running tights...
(But I will be in the pub!) Every cloud and all that........
Good luck all. Started to pack and need to be off to Southampton Airport for the Dublin flight in a few hours. Have not been able to work out where we are all planning to meet and I guess that I need to look out for people who look like their Forum photo - could be interesting.
I'm still 'taking part' although I may not be running all of it & I certainly won't be doing sub-4
So bearing that in mind I'm currently drinking a glass of red wine. Just the one though!!
All packed & ready to leave at 10am tomorrow morning.
Hope to see some people before, during & after. I might not be easy to spot as I'm not wearing anything distinctive - just 2XU shorts & calf guards & probably some Gore arm-warmers. Choice of top depends on the weather!!
Crikey LB....are you injured now too! How pants for you lot! (Still raging I'm not going.....here's to 09!) best wishes you lovely lot, looking forward to hearing race/drinking reports!!
Mitten, look out for the pirate with lots of layers on (plus a fetching black binner liner at the start), as i will be doing the same.
I will have a quick pint in the first pub before returning to the hotel before the next pub. This is due to my brother can't hack the pace of drinking orange juice!! Although the two mile round trip will be interesting.
If you are still reading this forum then you must, like me, not be running in the morning. Best of luck to all and I will see you in the baggage collection area and later in the pub after the clean up.
Best of luck to Amster especially, very keen to hear how you get on.
Great time Dr Dan! So close... I think I may have seen you ahead of me at one point? Did you have Dr Dan written on the back of your singlet? Maybe it was another Dr something or other?
03:15:55. Very pleased. I also managed a negative split, so very happy about my tactics.
Is it me being stupid or does the website have the 'chip time' and 'finish/gun time' the wrong way around? My chip time was slower than my finish/gun time; which should be impossible unless you can go back in time.
They always have the gun time and chip time mixed up when it's first uploaded. I knocked over 40 mins off last years time...and got a decent sub 4:30 and close enough to 4 hours to leave me feeling a bit disappointed. Oh well, bring on Connemara. Do you guys think I can knock 40 minutes off every year? I'll be racing with the elites in 2010 then
Race was rubbish for me as I mentally died at about 13 miles. Physically I felt ok & injury didn't give me any problems - but my mind wasn't in it. Finished in 4hrs 35mins which is a PW for me.
But spose that bearing in mind I wasn't going to do it I should be happy.
The rest of my 'company' ran really well, with some firsts in age categories & a fair few sub-3's
What was bummer was that one of our party had her hotel room broken into during the race. The guy from the police seemed to think that this happened quite often so would be interested to hear if anyone else had the same problem in Dublin.
Looking forward to hearing other race reports. I'll be on & off-line until we get back home late Wednesday but I'll try to log on to catch up.
Mitts
ps - sorry I didn't make the pub or anything, after the race we jumped straight into a cab & back to the hotel. I now plan to sleep for a long time
I've never heard of anyone else having a hotel room broken into during Dublin, thats rough. And look on the bright side - your next race will be a huge time improvment on this one
I have a bit of a race report here if you fancy a nosey but the condensed version is went well up to 18 but slowed badly and missed target by 1:30secs. But still did a PB so kind of mixefeelings, especially as looking back at my Garmin data I don't think I really gave everything I could have. Some great times run today though
Really enjoyed the race and will have to go back and do it properly next year . Strained my calf on saturday at Beachy Head so took it very steady till halfway after which I let it rip abit and found that it didn't hurt any more than running slowly so carried on. My first ever negative split and finished feeling like I had run a half marathon. Result was not what I was orginally aiming for but as my legs feel better at the end than they did at the start I am very happy.
Hope everyone else had a great run , till next year

Will we all get in Kennedys?
Don't say that!
Shades seems to think it's somewhere near the 25 mile marker?
My GPS watch is now not working.
However at least I found a shop with the gels I was looking for.

Going through the 'can I do it' 'stupid women of course you can' mode!!
