Yet another addition to the injured list. Chest pains, cold and then vomiting bug affected training in Feb. Then ITB and another cold have affected things since. Seeing the physio in 1 hrs time.
Although its in May, there isn't many weeks before the Maratihon taper is due to start. What happens if your 2 weeks taper is greater than the previous 8 weeks of training?
Tracey G: I don't know about a course record. I'm going to be pushing hard though. Doubt I'll go much under 3:30.
SlowButFar: If you go sub-4 hours I swear to God I will piggy-back you round the football pitch at the finish in celebration.
Keir: The trick is to rest properly. Get better and then focus on doing your best within the boundaries of your training. Oh, and enjoying the experience.
My weekend was spent running around Sevenoaks for 5 hours and 40 mins. marvellous fun, highly recommended:
I'm with you Blueski Waiting to see what will happen with an injury. Lots of missed training. All dreams of a 3.15 first marathon out of the window and now just hoping to be able to finish (and start!) Good luck.
HI everyone I m new in this forum, I register couple of month ego for halstead marathon it will be my first one , and I will like to know when we are suppose to get the race number and the cheap for the timing.Thank you .
I'm not sure exactly when you'll get your race number but rest assured that it will be in good time for the race. There is no chip timing for this event.
no im not just about to sign up, but just popping in to say hi..
Wont be there this year as will still be in repair mode after hernia op on 22 Apr.... (VLM also on the dump, so doubtful that there will be no mara this year..... that wil be a fist since I started running Maras in 2000.
Well hopefully it won't be the hottest this year as I'm running and marshalling. Alas due to illness and 3 weeks hols my training has gone to pot so just hope to finish is a reasonable time for me.
I felt sick last year as well. It was my first marathon and I suffered for the last few miles. Fortunately I've got a bad memory, so I've entered again this year.
it mentions pacing groups on the Halstead site. How do they work? is it just an informal thing? (Probably no-one else slow enough!)
Well I am getting my pre race cold now before Brighton and Halstead marathons. I think when the weather warms up it is going to be a shock to our systems.
I went out and bought a running vest and shorts, am now worried I look a bit 'professional'! My wife says she not used to me displaying so much flesh....
Is there any science to running vests?, I'm not sure I run fast enough to reap the rewards....

Take care all
Helloooo people,
was going to ask the same as Erwan, am hoping to run under four hours for the first time and getting a bit anxious.
What's the pub at the half way point? Hopefully my wife will be there, not for the first time getting bored and cold while I run.....
Anyway good luck to everyone and hope you stay injury free or are able to get rid of some of those niggles.
All the best.
just entered, this is my favourite race, and for those who are in 2 minds about entering do it as you won`t be disappointed,
che canary, the last 2 years of this race has been the hottest day of the year so i wouldn't worry about your wife getting cold

Thanks for the help Flynn and Pab.
A hot sunny day... that would be different!

Hi RFJ - hope the op and recovery goes well.
Could be hot, could be snowing, the way things are going . . . I'll have the snow every time!
2 laps NP4, covering about 22 of the miles - you really appreciate it the 2nd time around!
Wondered why people were falling about laughing......
Just to let you know Che Canary and UltraFlynn that the pub in Pebmarsh has closed down.
I did a practice run around just one lap of the course on Sunday and I can't remember seeing any other pubs on the route.
This will be my first time at Halstead and I'm hoping it not to hot!
