I sometimes finish wo*k at 0200 then run 15m along the canal back to the car by torchlight. It can be quite spooky & my colleagues don't understand. They are usually still drinking when I get home.
I was always an evening runner (when I first started it was dark so no one could see me,bonus!), I couldn't understand why on Earth someone would want to get out of bed early just to run. I did try it, once, and hated every step of the way plus I was starving so had no energy.
However, lately work has been hectic so the only time I can run is in the morning. Tried it again and found it was OK, did it a few more times that week and actually enjoyed the peace and tranquility, only seeing cyclists on their way to work or other runers. Now I thoroughly enjoy 6am runs. But only 3 times a week!
mornings def work for me , like a lot of mums its difficult to get out after work due to kids/meals/baths etc. my friend and i ran all through winter setting out as soon as it was light enough to see our feet in front of us! like someone else mentioned, non-runners dont understand why you would want to get up on a freezing morning on a weekend to run at 7am, but i tthink its great.
i dont run with an ipod as i love the peace , the wildlife waking up i get to see, and being part of that group of people whom you nod and gasp 'hello' to when you are out at that bizarre time of day. sometimes i do run midday time if its only time avaliable to me , but its really not the same.
join the morning gang everybody-its another world!!
I am early bird (think its to do with paper round from age 11 -16) I always run before 6am usually have a banana and a coffee and then off I go (not at the moment though PF diagnosed yesterday) I was up at 5am this morning dying to get out and run
Up even earlier than normal, cold out though. Anyhow, mine done and dusted, not as many as Corinthian, but 2 1/2 hrs out there. No time to take photos though. . .
Have come to conclusion that 5am is not "stupid o'clock" but "sensible o'clock" - had lie in this morning and went out at 9. Too hot, too much trraffic & can't believe its nearly 12 o'clock!! However on plus side without having to be back in for certain time did manage 13.12 mile along cliffs & seafront
I couldn't agree more. I go out at 06:15 (after half an hour waking up time) for three mornings during the working week. At the weekends it is usually between 8 and 9 am though.
Still quiet and all the neds are in their beds till lunchtime sleeping off their hangovers.
When I get home from work at 7:30 pm I haven't eaten since 12:00 and am usually hungry. I never really feel hungry in the morning and have to force myself to eat a couple of bananas after my early morning runs.
As far as being worried I would think it is a lot safer at that time than running in the eveniing. It is also a lot safer running off road at any time rather than running around streets full of dodgy characters.
can't match some of the craziness on here, but did gte up at 6am to run 16miles at 7am today. That strikes me as fairly crazy, and would be incredibly crazy to any normal people, but on this forum I think it's pretty standard fare
Mid-Summer's Day. Woken by a particularly noisy dawn chorus at 4am and out for a 5 mile x-country run at 4:30. Unfortunately there were too many clouds to get a good summer solstice sunrise but as always it's the best time of the day to be out and about.
Not quite as early as you lot but up at 5 every day and if not commuting then I'm out enjoying the wildlife and peace and quiet, saw my first early morning drunk for a while this morning as well, as long as you're not close enough to smell the booze then they're always good at shouting/slurring some motivation at you!
God, I got up late this morning compared to some of you!
Out the door before 6am. Now we're in the summer months, the light mornings are luuuuvvly! The only problem for me is my damn hayfever. It seemed really warm today compared to last week which still had a chill in the air.

Very small and compact and simple to use even for me!

Went out at 5.30 after the idiots next door finished their party.
Think I could get into the early stuff as I had bags of energy, although it could have been the adrenaline as I was fuming.

I'd a lie in this morning
Got Mrs B from a works BBQ then blethered to oldest son when we got in. Normanal service resumes again 'at stupid o'clock' on Monday morning.
