Hi, I have sent my details to Biker mouse as I will be away for a few days and trying to be organised. The Potters Arf is in Hanley Staffordshire, looking forward to having Barry's company on the run. I will check in to see how things are going on my return.
Barry has had a fun day doing a Military Fitness class & getting shouted at by army instructors for talking too much. He has eaten all my food, teased the cat, & generally been VERY demanding! But I still love him....
I've set up a Facebook gallery especially for pics of him. There are only 4 at the moment, but I'll keep adding to it.
I need to sort him some clothes don't I biker-mouse! It was chilly tonight at British Military Fitness, & he was shivering. It will be even colder up a mountain.
Barry did two BMF classes tonight, & is exhausted. He was let off press-ups this time, but started crying when asked to touch his toes...."I don't have any", he sobbed...."TOUCH THE BOTTOM OF YOUR STUMP THEN".....was the response roared back from a beefy army instructor....
Does Barry ever stop eating? He's been demanding a full English fry-up each morning, & steak & chips for tea, as well as several packets of Jaffa cakes & chocolate cake....& cheesy pasta....Where does he put it all...??
Day 3 of my epic completed...."Just" the marathon tomorrow now. Barry has had a great time so far.
We ran up Cader Idris, (3,000 ft) on Sat, then the Blackpool Beach 10k Sunday, plus the Pleasure Beach. (He's been on The Big One!) Then today was the Baby Beat 5k in Preston, as well as Madame Tussauds. Barry had his photo taken down Cheryl Cole's cleavage!!
Think I might have to dig deep tomorrow.....Bit tired....
Barry posted to biker-mouse this morning....sob...I'm going to miss him. We had such FUN!!
I must do a proper diary write-up of all we did....Brief details...
On Saturday we did the Cader Idris mountain/fell race. Nearly as high as Snowdon. 11 miles.
On Sunday we did the Blackpool Beach 10k, then a trip to the Pleasure Beach. (I have official race pics of Barry on The Big One & Infusion!!)
Then on Monday we went to Preston North End football ground for a 5k road race. Then back to the Pleasure Beach, as well as a trip to Madame Tussauds.
Yesterday we did the Liverbird marathon, Liverpool, where Barry helped me get a MASSIVE PB! 35 mins quicker than my last marathon.
I have MILLIONS of pics to share. I'm starting downloading them now into a few separate galleries, so I'll be posting links on here to my Facebook. Have put some on his FB fan page.
Can I book the little fella again for marathons on Dec 31 & Jan 1?? Liverbird New Year double?? Didn't just want to put it on the diary in case you can't borrow him twice in a year.....
Must get some more pics of him on my FB tomorrow.....Will post links....
Sorry for not posting earlier - well I thought I did but none of my posts made it to print, I think I must've shut down before clicking submit.
Barry arrived lunch time Thurs and claimed he was starving and that he hadn't been fed properly for ages so took himself off to the stinking chicken place over the road. It was safe to say I'd pick up the tab later wasn't it? Anyway he returned 3 hrs later saying they run out of tomato ketchup or something, quite what he'd been doing all that time I don't know. He then went at sat in the back garden for the rest of the afternoon / evening sunning himslef while I did some weeding.
The relay on Sat was great. Barry wasn't to pleased with a 4:30 am alarm call but a cup of strong black coffee soon roused him. Beachy Head was windy and overcast at 6:30 am but Barry was ready to go. Must say his map reading skills aren't too great and he took a few wrong turnings along the way. As the day progressed the sun came out and it warmed up then became very hot. Unfortunately Barry got a little unstuck and suffered from exhaustion at one point. I was worried when he didn't arrive on time, then 5 mins late, then 10 mins late and I was very worried then there were calls for a marshall and I knew he was in trouble so I ran out with another team member to go find him. Fortunately he wasn't too far out but was very close to basket case so we helped him struggle over the line. Anyway a box of jelly babies and quite a lot of water later he made a recovery. Though I think his lunch of nutella and peanut butter sarnies is slightly questionable. He ended the race almost spot on target time of 13 + half hrs though picking up quite a few penalty points along the way. Oh well.
Maybe 5 days of races culminating in a marathon then 100 mile relay was a bit too much for the wee chap.
Will post him on on my way to work this afternoon.
I am back from my travels and looking forward to seeing Barry really soon. Sounds like he has had a hard week or two! Pottering around the Potters Arf will be positively peaceful after all that

glad you enjoyed your time and thanks for getting Baz off to biker-mouse
I thought barry was too young for that.
BF - do you normally do so much running?
Behave Stu! You will corrupt Barry with your impure thoughts.....
When I took him to British Military Fitness, & introduced him as Barry the Baton, they decided to call him Dave the D**** instead.......
I do tend to run a lot biker-mouse. Very slowly....but a lot. Have entered a few marathons for this year. Has Barry arrived safe & sound??
YES Stu....
Can I book the little fella again for marathons on Dec 31 & Jan 1?? Liverbird New Year double?? Didn't just want to put it on the diary in case you can't borrow him twice in a year.....
