Forecast warm and showery over the next couple of days - expect puddles
Overcast but warm, modest risk of showers Saturday
All info out in the post now - those who's mate/partner/uncle or pet goose have had their info but you haven't - it is coming, honest! But if you have a slower time or entered later than the goose then you were likley at the higher number starts and thus at the back of the post pile for Pat to sort and deliver Hang Tight - the tunnel doesn't get any longer
This is my first half marathon. I did the Arden 9 like a few of you a couple of weeks ago, was pleased with how i did in that. I haven't been able to train the last few weeks as my sister hasn't been very well, so i'm not as confident as I have been. Think I have a start time of 11.40am too. It's good to hear it's a laid back race, puts me a little at ease. Really do hope it's not too hot, i'll be pleased with myself if i can get through the first ten at ease don't mind having to walk a little. I'm doing this on behalf of a charity so it's the taking part that counts, don't want to be out there all day though!!!!
This will be my first half Marathon, so I'm quite nervous.
As I'll be in the last wave and needing to collect my number etc on the day, what time would you recommend I get to Wolverhampton? I believe my 'Gather Time' is 12:10.
Spence - if I am running, I should blimmin' hope I'm ahead of you as my start time is officially half an hour earlier!! Though I reckon you should come forward as you probably entered way back on the basis of being slow, but your recent mara performances etc will have made you faster!
can't even think past tomorrow at the mo Spence! Will probably aim for one that gets me in to Wolves about an hour before 'gather time' or a bit before
I have an 11.40 start time too.... it's a bonus if we get off a bit earlier. The original plan of us all going for the morning / afternoon have been abandoned due to childrens birthday parties, so will work out train times next and make sure I'm all organised.
Can someone explain this 'showers at the finish' thing? Does that mean a walk through cool down type set up or actual showering facilities to wash and get changed? Not stinking of race dirt and sweat on the two hour train journey home to Manchester would be a bonus!
I start at 11.55. I think everyone will have gone home by the time I finish think it will be around 2.30. It is alright if you drink the pub dry Chris because I don't drink! (Well beer and stuff)
Do you think the showers will stay open for the slower people?
I'm not going to worry too much I'm just going to have a good time and enjoy the running.
Good news - 20 mins on treadie this morning and although not comfortable, the knee isn't complaining right now, so fingers crossed another 36 hours' worth of ibuprofen will see it right enough to get from start to finish in one piece on Saturday.
Aiming for a 1.30pm pint all being well... Spence, you might need to give me a piggyback if the knee gives out halfway

Well Yeti, you'd think wouldn't you, but I'm not so sure in the heat
What time train are you getting? I'm most annoyed at H she's going away for the weekend, I was hoping for a lift home !!
I seem to remember going before my 'official' start time when I did it in 09 (with you) and I'm hoping to do the same this year......
You're welcome to a lift with me.....
..... on the bus!!
Spence,,,,drink the pub dry.....yes....but I might save you one.....on second thoughts...nar.....
However did a 5mile race last night, well stuffed now so might not be as quick/slow as I hope.....feeling a bit feeble to be honest.
Stephanie, as least this is flat unlike Arden !
Revised weather ~ 19 and cloudy
No offence Darran but I am going with Kaks forecast.....
Full on, proper, real, m & f, actual, life size showers at the NIA - or a dip in "the cut" as they say down here if you prefer.
The canal is closer but showers are provided a short(ish) walk away.
We spoil you lot!
We'll be there in time for lunch
