Did 12 at 7 this morning.God it felt hard! You've got to love this taper madness. All of a sudden I have a niggle in my right calf - didn't effect my run though. A few 4 mile runs this week and the the big one on Sunday!
Alan, I'm number 8914 and unless my knee plays up I expect to be sub 5. If everything goes really well it might be nearer 4:45 but if it all goes t1ts up then I have no idea but I will drag myself round no matter how long it takes! I shall be wearing a purple cap with 'Redhead' across the front and my Alzheimer's Research UK vest. Look forward to seeing you there
Bigsmile, don't panic, don't panic! I haven't run for 4 days now as I'm resting my sore knee. This is a week for being lazy so that on Sunday you're raring to go. See you there
I'm following the Jeff Galloway 4.40 hrs training plan, it's 26 weeks long. This week, I'm having my first ever bash at 4 days running, rather than the usual 3 days per week.
I may re-think once Richard's training plans are available on the RunLiverpool site, but this will give me a good place to start.
I can manage 4 runs a week easily, IL. I find 5 "doable" but 6 is a pain in the arse and tends to get me injured. How Ron Hill runs every day is beyond me.
I think Richard's training plans will give you a basic structure, an opportunity to take up training days along the way and also different workshops at JMU on the weekends of the set training days at progressive distance. I think they are every week with a steady build.
Just popped onto the RUNLIVERPOOL site and had a nosey at the training plans available for the half marathon.
How many has Richard written Alan? I think I fall somewhere inbetween intermediate and advanced based on what I'm looking at for the half. The intermediate would be slightly below my capabilities but the advanced scares me!
Is it better to follow the intermediate TP for the marathon and run the training runs at a faster speed or go for the advanced and know I'm going to be slower because they mileage is that much more?

Boing, boing, boing.
I'm still resting up as my stupid knee is sore as can be. Tapering is definitely bad for you
I'm tapering now. You could call it "doing bugger all" too as I've only put 5 miles in this week!
Going out for a 12 later. Only had one day of soreness from the half and I even went to the gym on that day and cross trained to loosen off!
Hi Peeps
Had a very quiet week i,m afraid, achillies was very sore after the half
( Brand new pair of shoes " on the day " cos my old ones split wide open on the Friday )
Will give it till mid week and climb back onto the bottom rung and start again.
my week of running has been bordering on mental, because of Mothers day i decided to bring my long run forward a day so this weeks training has been
Sunday, 5 miles + Liverpool half +2 miles = 20 miles
Monday 5 miles recovery + 1hr circuit
Tuesday 3 miles + 7 miles of long efforts
Wednesday 11 miles
Thursday 3 miles + 7 miles of long efforts
Friday 5 miles recovery
Saturday 20 miles
Thats 81 for the week
btw i`ve done **** all running today

This tapering lark is ace
Taper, taper, taper. Hate it!
Hoping the rest and a good sports massage will sort my knee out
Jakesy, blimey, that's some impressive mileage from you
Vinnie, please go easy on that sore achilles as they can be tricky little blighters.
Russell, only 6 sleeps to go.........
I did 5 on Tuesday and nowt since!
I'm lazier than you! Didn't even do my 12 yesterday. Mr LB said "spend some time with me instead and do it tomorrow when I've gone back to London"!
I didn't need telling twice. We went shopping.
Redhead and Cake thanks for the advice about Abingdon definitely doing Liverpool now and cant wait.
Northern lass so sorry to hear about your injury, wishing you a speedy recovery
Liverbird i'm am in your boat. did 5 miles last week nothing since. but now starting to panic that i won't be fit enough to do Brighton on Sunday.
Happy running everyone

LB, hope you shopped well
Best of luck, Redhead - have everything crossed that your knee behaves itself.
Today is officially Day 1 of my training for RunLiverpool Marathon, I've been battling Snickers cravings all day - coincidence?
Ah, mais oui!
I always shop well. I am a hexpert in shopping.
IL- I won't begin training for RLM until mid June! How long is your programme?
BEST 10 miler is great news, LB.

And I'm still in my thirties, not my seventies!

All looks very professional anyway!
LB, well done on your 10 miler. You young 'uns should be fine on 5 runs a week
JohnM, RICE for you and take care of that poorly ankle.
I'm going to try a short plod tomorrow to see if my knee behaves. It jolly well better had behave itself!
A snickers bar could kill me!
You all want me dead....
Alan especially. He keeps filling my goody bags with piggin' nut products!
