Megalilly- 3000 caps a day sounds normal to me but forget the carb loading thing- you've done the training,or you haven't! If you have, your body will be used to storing glycogen in your liver and muscles. If you haven't, 3 days of consuming doughnuts would get the carbs in, but ain't gonna make up for any missed training!
Just eat normally, with a nod towards getting more calories from carbs- but I still say that most runners follow a high carb diet naturall.....
Reproofing my montane marathon jacket as I type.....just in case of snow
Off out for last 4 mile jog this morning and then I will be clearing my garmin of all data.....dont want to get to the top of the pass and then have it bleeping at me the memory is full !!!!!! Just got to pack, go shopping to leave the teenagers some grub to feed themselves with and I should be ready for the off.....gonna have a leisurly drive up to Llanberis and hopefully stop for lunch somewhere nice on the way
Oh yes and dont forget to pack my trainers ...eck that wouldnt be good
ooohhh getting excited now and it's already started getting colder here
my songlist includes ACDC Highway to Hell, then in Beddgelert Bon Jovi Living on a Prayer (cos we're 1/2 way there) and for on the way down the last hill Quo Down, Down Deeper and Down. Oh and for when i cross the finish line i'm going for Whitney One Moment in Time.
As regards the weather i was parked at Pen Y Pass carpark last night just after 6pm taking a call of nature and just as i thought might happen it began to sleet for around five minutes.
One forgets that living on the coast in Llandudno it never gets cold and within reason i can wear shorts and teeshirt all year round.
It is still 13C in llandudno but was 6C at Pen Y Pass, it really took me by surprise just how bloody cold it was in the mountains.
The Lord has already made his decision that Saturdays race is going to be cold and if the wind picks up it will be brass monkeys weather.
Oh why couldn't it be a half marathon on Saturday because at the moment i am not motivated one little bit to do this race.
If anyone was desparate to take my place so soon before the race i would definately consider staying indoors keeping warm.
BVRB, we're eating in Villa Marina Friday night... I'll review that here and you let us know what WAL is like...
Gutted we're staying in Caernarfon and not LB, we'll have a sing song on the mountain then a sing song by the coast...
Weldome to Wales Pete6 and Thank for the advice PJL. Born & Bred in Rhyl so I was used to North Wales weather until about 20 years ago, since then I'm a soft, southern shandy-drinker...
Just wait until the gang are there before you break it to them that *they* are the live entertainment SS - Mr panad and I will be dropping in at somepoint over the weekend

Running on empty, Jackson Brown. Oh yes!

Thanks Jason D, words of wisdom. As it happens I am a breadspudspastaholic, so I'll go back on my diet !

Just worked out we've got 550 more posts compared to last year's thread at the same stage. Someone needs to start next year's shortly. *Frodo*?
We also seemed to know race numbers by this time last year. They're not on the website as far as I can see.
Thank you everyone. Not ready but it is time.
Wedi blino. Cysgwch!
Tired. Sleep!
Truth is, I know I'll still probably be out for 2013 but I have my eye on 2014 to finally lay this beast to rest
