Nice one Ian, thanks. Never learned the art of taping my feet, perhaps I will be needing a crash course off the medics at some point. Happily enough my troublesome toenail has grown to a point where it can fall off again after this race. That's good timing.
Thanks for link, booktrunk. Fascinating viewing. That leader is really moving, and the leading group just coming over High Withins. Must be bitter up there.
-2C and not much wind so should be OK. Wonder what the underfoot conditions are like? Swollen icy streams? Soggy deep peat with a crust of ice on it? Lethal, slippery flagstones?
I suppose some of them will be getting their head down at some point for an hour or two?
the check points you can stop at are 50 tp 60 miles apart, they have to carry a tent and a stove I think? Etc... Can be supported in that a team can meet you at road junctions and if you are 'supported' If they have a car you can sleep in it but of course not move in it. Can also buy meals at pubs or shops on the way I think
The second place in the challenger event is making a race of it and looks like he's really catching up on the leader, they are either side of Pen-y-Ghent
Shame they couldn't run this in the summer. It can be marshy at the best of times in the middle of the summer, let alone in Jan with all the rain we have had. Takes away from the race a bit, unless you like the challenge of trudging through swamps and floods

Can,t get the link to work!

Good luck, GKD, I'll be following you're progress. Run strong my friend.
Good luck everyone I hope you are fast asleep in your beds getting possibly your last decent sleep in good knows how long!

Yeah baby.
Watching the dots hehe
How come you didn't join them, booktrunk?
Maybe next year think you need to be a bit hardcore, compared to them and lots you included I am a very slow wimp
I don't think you would not have a big enough monitor to be able to show me and the leaders on the same screen.
11 have dropped out so far poor them
poor as in unluckythem.
A lot of poor souls are stillout there.
Somtimes watching these events is more gritty than doing them!
You are in complete comfort, but you fully understand the horrible nature of the timeline!
I do wonder I don't think they would even let me enter t-Rex

A lot of them seem to have gone off course into Hebden Bridge. Must be some attraction ... Pub?

Or do they just carry on??
The leader of the full length spine event would actually be second in the challenger event, bloody scary speed!

Oh dear, three are now running off into Lancashire. Can someone tell them?
That's four now.
C'mon #49, you can do it!
#70 seems to be making his own arrangements in Hebden Bridge.
I know it's a nightmare it's like one went off course and those behind I bet saw his light and followed
Conditions are hard but nothing like last year. I think the challenge is going to smash the record time for that.
So t-Rex shall we be shaking each other's hand in a years time wishing each other good luck
The one stuck at Hebron bridge has retired awwwww
Excellent - they're all back on the route.
Who's Marcus Scotney (challenger event)? He's very useful and massively ahead. 2nd runner and leader (Spine) are clearly moving together.
This is entertaining, but better get my own head down now. Still plenty of action tomorrow ... and the next day.
What a race!
Need little RW logos on some so I know who to cheer for extra hard

Elite Ironman, Ultra Trail Runner
Yes, it makes a very hard challenge even harder, and I would have thought less enjoyable?
Approaching nightfall again I can't imagine how they're coping. Watching them they do not seem to have had much rest so far.
They're certainly well spread out.
Ian B is #11 but don't know other names on here and wouldn't want to 'out' them in any case.
