It is all a bit sad We decided this morning to just ignore it now; a competition that was supposed to finish on the 5th, and then finish on 13th is still open and it's just daft.
Though I'm finding it really hard not to keep voting though Damn competitive pride...
I have had several emails with them today.. they are well aware of the fictitous voting...
They did declare on the FB page that you could vote as many times as you like, I suspect in response to your emails DV.
But this has all spoiled the fun and the excitement we had when we first received the notification of his shortlisting. Enough is probably enough. At least we aren't going to lose to Ken after all
Ooh this reminds me of voting drama poor Bookie had, trying to win a weekend away on some nutrition FB site... some woman became hugely competetive and her and her friends became verbally abusive. All a bit sad.
I didn't realise we could vote more than once either...
I'm home alone tonight... I can sit there all evening!!

Now then if they allow multiple voting per person then the inner nerd in me reckons that it wouldn't take too much effort to write something that could well and truly ensure that Benny wins, and by however many votes you want
There was a renewal issue with the RSPCA's website license, KK - which meant their site went down for a few days. They said that meant people hadn't been able to vote as they couldn't access the link from there, so extended the deadline to last Friday. Overnight, Thurs-Fri, Ben the cat (who had few votes at that point) stormed into the lead by over 100 votes. The RSPCA site was still having issues so they extended the voting again to today. So I made the call for one last surge - and Benny was 150 votes ahead at 10pm last night, and yet, by this morning, he was over 100 behind. So we're calling it a day - it's just turned into a farce and I'd rather lose with dignity than scrap for a title that means little
And they've announced the results on their site, so it is all over, with us in second place Thanks again for the support - I've got a bit to think about this evening now!
1st post after a lot of lurking so be gentle with me. Wasn't the title of this thread, "I can't be beaten by a rabbit called Ken"? Well you weren't. PS. I did vote BTW but only once. My mummy always told me cheats never prosper.
At the risk of being a bit , you know that you and Benny have won because you've got him and he's got you. What more could either of you ask for.
Must be pretty hollow victory if the only way that they could win was by cheating.
Wonder what it feels like to know that the reason that you've won is not because people think you're a worthy winner, but because you cheated?
Anyhow, (much as I love cats) there's no way you'd get one to go training with you, so reckon we're all looking forward to reading Bennys' comments on your training. You'll have to ask Plum to do a separate schedule for him

I just looked at the results.. how on earth did Benny jump into the lead today...?
The whole thing was some fun, but has now become a bit of a joke vote.. this is just ridiculous...

I've been voting again...
What's the deal with the closing date now? And the massive influx of votes for Ben? It's all very odd

However, we are walking away from it all now - if they want it that badly, let them have it!
Thank you all, so much, for your support - you are all ace
Shame, I had high hopes for Benny.
(I did try and vote again this morning, but just keep getting a message to say I've already voted )

Exactly. And no rabbit or cat could ever be that!

What is their facebook page called..?
I'd assume it was this one
http://www.facebook.com/?ref=tn_tnmn#!/RSPCAManchesterandsalford
yeh.. I wanted to see if the owners of Ben the cat had made some comment... doesn't look like it...?
Being a tad cynical () I see that Ben spent a long time at the RSPCA centre itself, while waiting to be homed.
And, coincidentally, a number of the comments are from staff members.
Add this to the *koff* problems with the website and you can't help wondering. . .
