So happy!! It seems I caught my knee issue before it got bad - 48 hrs rest ITB stretches every hour on the hour ice e few times and then tonight a steady 55 min 7 mile run with no knee problems. Now for the 16 miler on Saturday - this is the distance I think is the mileage that long runs start at
All these people who are turning to Triathlon maybe they just getting bored of just running. I could be tempted if I could swim half decently but although my kids are great swimmers and I used to teach swimming at their club it is a case of do as I say not as I do.
We are all fine, thank you. Bobbi is coming on leaps and bounds now, its just a case of keeping my eye on her when she has done a bit too much, which she soon lets me know about, and is quite patient when I make her have a day off. The bunnies are just adoreable. They are more than happy with each other and the new one is quickly getting used to us and his new surroundings. I still adore my voluntary work at the kennels, so life is pretty good at the moment
Evening BP - its the swimming that stops me from even considering a tri too. I've done a variation of one ( 47 mile bike / 10 mile kayak / 13 mile run) and that was enough for me - it almost killed me!!.
BP - I'm quite keen to do a duathlon, had my eye on the Grizedale one (off road) but had to sack the idea due to it being the week after Haweswater and doubt I'll be recovered enough after my lack of training .
Vixx - yes, happy planet sums it up nicely!
Ok, logging off now due to aforementioned day shifts - 0515hrs alarm means I'd better head off to my bed.
Cheers Mandie - I will be up at 6.30 but for a 16 miler at 8.30 and not work thankfully. I have looked t the Richmond Park Duathlons before as they relatively flat and beginner friendly - oly hassle is it is always around the GNR date.
Ive done 2 offroad duathlons around kielder but really fancy a proper road bike one, theres one in morpeth on easter monday but im doing 10k the day before so cant do it, also another one in april that im considering
Go for it mr sj. Well that's the 16 done (2:24:50). My usual long run route along river - however all the rain we have had meant it was more a XC run. We even had to come back a slightly different route around the road to cut off one really bad patch where we had been wading on the way out. Feel so good as that is my longest run since Luton Marathon last November feel as though right back into it now
Not long back from the Royal Signals Road Relays at Hetton Le Hole Country Park.
For once it was a perfect day for running - calm, cool and bright. The settings were lovely too ... 2 laps round a lovely lake - with a few draggy hills thrown in for good measure.
I was running leg 3 of 4 in the women Vets team, so plenty of time for me to get nervous. I was advised not to go off all out in the first lap because of the hills, and so tried to do that (but I haven't checked my Garmin). We had lots of runners for Jarrow and Hebburn for this one, so the support was really good.
Finished the distance (a pleasing 2.22 - I have a thing for this number!) in 15:55, and my Garmin said I'd done 7:10 min/miles, so not bad. Then it was up the hill to cheer on Vicki who was taking over after me.
Turns out to be a very good day for Jarrow and Hebburn women ... our Women's team took first place, and our Women's Vets took 2nd place ... so I got to go home with a nice shiny medal I wasn't expecting at all!
Well done on your 16 miles, BP ... mine is to do tomorrow, and I'm really hoping it's going to be weather very similar to what we've had today up here.
I managed to watch some of the Athletics today at work but lost out on the vote and had to watch some utter garbage called 'Family Guy'. I really need to watch some athletics. May have to look on tinternet for the European Athletics at Gateshead stadium in June. Anyone going or have tickets?

Mandie - are you going to the Bike and Triathlon Show over the weekend?
LOL!
Hi Vixx - no I can't make it - I'm on day shifts all weekend. Are you going?
Yes, on Sunday. Think I had better start looking into this triathlon malarkey....
How are the bunnies and Bobbi (and your good self of course)?
Hope you don't spend too much!

I can swim - I have a job with the bike! Maybe three of us could do a relay sometime?
Sounds like you have a lovely, happy animal planet there Mandie

Cheers BP - though it wasn't cross country (for a change!). The relay was run on pathways. I wish I could run X/C at that pace, lol.
Congrats Shielsy and Vicki
Well done on your running Bearsted!
Hi mr sj
Well done Shielsy
