But moving on to another crazy relation.........................my cousin (ex army!) did IMUK yesterday in 12.12 something. He ran the marathon part in 4.06. I am lost for words.
There's normally money down the back of other people's sofas. Only crumbs / fluff in ours (I've just checked)!
Morning CPH. I survived my tri at the weekend btw - had a wonderful time with 40+ pirates! Am now fully converted to the darkside - only the long race to go Paul a - great reports of this years UK race.... (well apart from the wind and rain obviously - although it is UK FGS)! Organisation and atmosphere first class. Maybe the UK race is looking good for a 2010 outing? Rumour is that it's going to move from Sherborne... don't know when or where. Watch this space.
PSC - go back to sleep Well done on the tri. BTW there is something else that got lost in LL's sofa. But you'll have to read back through 40,000 posts to find out what it is.
Well done PSC. Mrs a and I really enjoyed watching and supporting at IMUK on Sunday and it had a great buzz and feel to it. So much so that I am thinking of doing it next year.
<goes off for a lie down in a dark room hoping the tri ponce urge will pass>
Not decided yet PSC but am thinking about it. There are some nice shiny bikes out there that I like the look of
Want to talk to a few people and work out whether I could still run some decent mileage and keep the marathons going too. I wouldn't want to stop running. Have decided to delay any changes until after Chicago, take my old MTB out for a spin at the weekend and decide if I want to become a bike ponce and go for a couple of swims to see how I enjoy that.
Half of me says stick to what I know and half fancies the new challenge and variety.
You will need to stick to mara trg for an IM but at reduced volumes. With a 3 hour mara you would look good for a bloody good time. You are also light so have an advantage on the bike over us slightly squidgy afaletes. And pool swimming is plastic. Hire a swimming wetsuit and try open water. There is a very good tri shop down your way. If you are interested (and when I get home) I can email the link. The biggest challenge making the transition from run to tri is that you can lose flexibility. Cycling tightens the quads and calfs. Not a problem if you stretch well, but many don't and their run times suffer as a result. My running is continuing to improve (well would be if I wasn't rudy well injured) so this isn't an issue to me.
I shall assemble a staff briefing note/email. My Staff Officer training was not completely wasted then! might take a day or two. But more than happy to convert someone who may finish up at the pointy end of a tri race. I've got more than enough competition at the blunter end of the field.
Mr H has decided to do an ironman. He has bought one of those wetsuit thingies and is practicing his swimming in the lake behind our house.
Well done on your tri psc. You certainly sound hooked.
Would be too scared to look down the back of our sofas. Mind you they might contain our missing cat. Appreciate the offer of comfy cushion, but there is not much to tell apart from abject humiliation at my pathetic peformance. Maybe I will just shop in New York.
the humiliation potential of shopping in New York is quite enormous
I have been msning with a girl who wears a wet suit and net stockings - I have asked her for a photo for our (running club, she is a coach) website. "Which website?" She asked.
Mr H is clearly a good man! although it's probably reasonable to add that anyone committed to doing an IM should probably be committed! (if you get my drift).
A Quintana Roo Tequilo, just got to get used to clip in pedals now and riding a bike in a funny aero position. Actually felt much more comfortable when I was measured up than I was expecting.

The matter of the thong remains outstanding.

Once bitten forever smitten. Welcome to the dark side Paul. Much more fun than just running for hours and hours each week.
