I felt ok after Ironman uk, I ran into work this monring, a mere 12 miles and It hurt more and was tougher going than the marathon on that rainy day back in August!!
Dont listen to woody, it will leave you skint, your family will forget who you are, you body wont know whats hit it, your sleep and eating patterns will go through the roof, you will bore everyone sensless with talking about it, your new best friend will be your physio and when you have finished...............
it would all have been worth every second of training and every penny spent

Did the Tonbridge Half Marathon to get my legs back running again, bit of a lumpy course with nearly 1600ft of climbing. Finished in 1hr 42min 15sec. Was very happy with myself, hope to be doing Basingstoke half in a couple of weeks.
The strangest thing was it started at 10am!!!!, thats half way through the day.!!!!
Did my first half IM distance on Saturday in Llanberis....even the swim was uphill!! as you can see from my new pic with the only bit of black 'n' yeller kit I have at the top of Snowdon. Think I was about 7th.........from the end in 9h 55m 55s...room to improve then?
Just thought I would slide this thread back up the forum charts. Running going OK at the moment Ealing Half sub 1:30 (just) looking forward to Amsterdam Marathon in a little over 2 weeks time and then it will be back on the bike (rollers probably depending on weather). Hope everyone is fit and training well...
9sqrun as soon as you mention Llanberis hills spring to mind well done you
Hi IB good luck at Amsterdam
Like you my running is going well atm with 2 PBs last weekend Chester Mar for me this weekend. I need to sort out something for indoor bike training it really is my Achilles heel.
I've decided to stick to bike and run for the majority of the winter. I can swim and the swim doesn't concern me.
I did my first Olympic recently and the run absolutely killed me. I cramped up in my thighs on the run and unfortunately decided to stop and stretch it. Completely buggered my legs for the run, I'd only done 1k at the point. My thighs hurt for 4 days after.
The swim and bike were fine, aside from me being shite at riding up hills!

Woody - I love Henley half still grinning like a fool
First half distance was perfect to wear pirate colours for the first time. The support on course from fellow racers and supporters was awesome
I love this long distance stuff, no more fast & furious short courses for me.
Even felt better day after Henley than after previous marathons.
Great stuff RS I agree with you on the day after, it's weird I'm less sore after Ironman than a stand alone fast marathon.

This will be my first Ironman and my first triathlon for 6 years. What have I let myself in for?
A fantastic journey culminating with an amazing experience

I'd agree with all of that Bones accept you don't have to chuck a load of cash at it.
300 days to the Big one in Bolton boys & girls.
Winter training commences tomorrow after 2 weeks of inactivity post Henley.
Pool swims, turbo, trail runs & treadmill I'll be seeing a lot of you...
I'm doing Chichester Olympic distance this weekend. I am slightly nervous after hurting my back this week and ankles in the week before.
Still, will be a nice trip!

good way to end the year, and now have a target to beat next time!
My two weeks rest after Henley seem to have expanded to nearly 4.
Mind you Woman down as I had man flu - it's seriously bad !
so just easing back into light runs, turbo & swims.
Maybe my body just wanted or needed more time even if the mind was willing to start again.
back big time next week......
Just to bounce this up...

Anyone else seen this?
Not seen it before but it looks to be 8 miles short.
W2r - that was mentioned on farsebook, and seemingly there will be miles added onto the route somewhere.
