Not sure about that one. I can't imagine there would be any speeding cars when they see several hundred people running towards them! I would assume that there will be some sort of safe route marked out.
they have had it their own way for too long. Ever since that cyclist tried to sabotage 'our Paula' before last years marathon. Well, now it's payback time!!!
Camberwell is only about 20 min cycle from mine so that would be fab. Unless anyone is coming from SE London.....sh1t I'm begining to think I may be Edinburgh that w/e....RS!
Last year they used the dirt track. They split into tme groups starting every five minutes or so.
The cyclists need to be worried. Go on the road an risk the cars.... go on the dirt track and they end up walking or getting knocked off! revenge really is sweet
Jon, I think Mike was adding a little humour! And it's only the occasional cyclist that deserves a damn good slap! I know lots, and some are almost human!
Ouch indeed! However I'm more worried about the pain of crossing town at some unworldly hour - will anyone else be attempting to make the trek from North London??
Jon. Having been injured in the past by a cyclist who have literally ran over me at Richmond park and didn't even stop!... revenge on that type of cyclist really would be sweet because there's no need for it! even if I was joking when I wrote it.
It really is childish, and would also be on my part, to stop others enjoying the park and even more so to cause injury to others. It's not just runners and cyclists that use that track, there's also a lot of parents with small children who could be really hurt by a careless runner or cyclist.
I'm sure the cyclists probably moan about the runners... I just happen to see it from the runners viewpoint which means I'm biased.
Gina B - North London NO! Long trek! I am only coming the short distance from Oxfordshire!
I am always up early anyway because i have a couple of those "snotty nosed kids"! And before anyone asks, yes, they both deserve a slap from time to time!! But i shouldn't say that otherwise some do-gooder that has never raised children will be telling me how to raise mine!!
The little old ladies shouldn't be slapped. It's their little yappy lap dogs that attack your ankles. But rather than slap the little dogs, and in honour of Englands fine victory in the outback, i feel a Jonny Wilkinson drop goal may be the better option!
I've got no problems with cyclists as long as they're as careful as I am when on the bike.....same as my car driving philosophy - drive like me and I won't complain ;-)
Sure I love to go fast but not if it means whizzing past runners in front of me who might not be aware that I'm about to pass them. One little side step to avoid a puddle by the runner and splat...pain.
I doubt whether any cyclists will bother if there are 1000 runners on the dirt track though.
Comments
Will we be using this route ? All 1000 of us?
Last years runners please answer....

If you're running and don't get a better offer then mail me and we'll fix something up.....:-)

don't want 'em to feel left out of the party..
Yeeeeeeeeah, didn't really appreciate the sweet revenge remark though...

Peace, joy, happiness and mars bars.
My son cycled from John O'Groats to Lands End this year on his own and his biggest bugbear was ignorant car drivers.
PP I've got this vision of some poor little yorkshire terrier flying over our heads!!
Hopefully the day will dawn bright and crisp with a nice light frost. Crisp and dry.
Well that's what I hope!!
