It depends on how you intend to do the race-hard as you can or more relaxed. If you want to run it hard I always say "normal" marathon training, but look at the schedules for faster runners and do the distances like 22 mile long runs more frequently. On trails of course you need strength for the hills so work on that, uphill and downhill running. If you run/walk, or maybe walk/ jog a bit your total running distance may well be less than a marathon so 20 mile long runs would be adequate. Try and train off road when possible.
Ahem, we were camping at the Potteries and I youth Hostelled at Snowdonia, I think I'm a few months older than you aren't I Benz, we have a large tent by the way.
Benz, I do live fairly close. When I had a proper job (those were the days hee hee hee) I used to leave work at 5pm and by 5.30 I could be running on the moors past the Carlton glider station. Now I just go whenever I like. I'll check up on posh hotels. A few in Osmotherley are nice. Great pubs there too.

its just that i've only got little legs and if i just walked it would take me about 16 hours (a bit like it did last time!)
a 38 year old race that they are probably going to have to close down.
