Whatever happened to that Elle...sorry that Brighton marathon woman? The one who carved an outrageous amount off every other marathon, well out of pro rata sync with every single other race, and went "Missing" from shots and on chip markers for a certain period in the race?
Stevie/Millsy - she does quite a few marathons these days including the10 in 10, so fair play to her. But obviously the higher mileage has impacted the amazing run that her club mate said she trained for, being just the 50 minutes slower at Brighton last time. The guy at our club who has done 100+ marathons, can actually run the odd quick one on the right course, which makes me wonder why she doesn't try to repeat her Brighton heroics and be too fast to be captured on camers or by timing mats...
She's raised loads for charity so well done to her.
The Brighton run was clearly an aberration caused by a desire to get a GFA time for London. The race organisers didn't care enough to stop her getting away with it. Despite the support she received on here from her club I do wonder what they all really think as within the second half of that marathon she PBd significantly at every distance from 5k through to HM. A bit sad that running London would be considered so important that you would risk your whole reputation on it.
I wish I could pb a 5k as part of a marathon. Well especially in the second half....
Where are the flounce threads ? Have they all been deleted ? I can't seem to find any classic ones.
What about Karate Kid who came on and was going to show us all how to run the Marathon at 4 weeks notice thru the discipline of his mind ? That was a good one and got a bit 'slappy' ?

She already had a GFA time for London. I would take the more generous view that she was just struggling, felt she couldn't complete it, and decided to just cross the finish line anyway.
That's all well and good but what followed her decision to claim a finish medal has made her infamous. If she put her hands up when questioned about it no one would have remembered her.

So she did - wonder if she counts it as one of her first 100.
The Brighton One turned up to a local very low key event last November. She strangely arrived massively late, like an hour and a half late and ran it anyway. I managed to shout something to her as I left. Can't remeber exactly what it was but you can imagine the gist of it.
OMG! Elite race had finished at London marathon and they were interviewing a very excitable woman with "Ellan" written on her shirt saying she was retiring from marathons after today, which was her 130th. She mobotted in around 4.15, a long way off "that" pb.
She ran 4h48 according to the official stats. She grabbed the guy interviewing on Tower Bridge, jumped up and down and shouted. I don't think he picked her out.
Yes, they work I think the only ones that don't work are things like the team-gb and insane-training-plan threads where I believe the initial posters are no longer registered on the site.

That one made tea come out of my nose. I don't know whether to blame or thank you for digging it up.
Does he go under 'Fellrunner' on Fetch Nessie? I'd love to read some of his posts
Terror on the towpath is one of my favourites, as well as Warning.
This was also fun

I don't know, but I did see Jason double barrel at the bupa 10k in London last year, some way behind Phil Pub. In the flesh he looked a bit sad.

^ I saw that, I didn't notice the name on the shirt though.

This is like ISIS desecrating Palmyra.
