The one thing putting me off from entering is the Doctor's certificate. I would appreciate any advice anybody can give. Have you really got one from a doctor and how much did it cost? Did you make one up yourself and if you did how official was it.
I don't want to spend anymore money than I have to, as I'm from Yorkshire and we're a bit careful with our money up here!!!
  • Options
look on the previous page - it's all laid out there for you (and it'll cost you 'owt!)
  • Options
Snoop - you say you take the certificate along to the Expo when you collect your number. My confirmation email said 'You have to send your medical certificate to A.S.O. Athlétisme - B.P. 182 - 92135 Issy Les Moulineaux Cedex - France...'. Is this new for this year? Or did they say this last year but it was still ok to take it along to the Expo?
  • Options
it's the same every year, S. Just take it along to the Expo in Paris when you register for the race and collect your number and champion chip.

They'll just take your doctor's letter/certificate, see if your name is mentioned (without reading it), and hand you your goody bag etc.

btw - on the pro forma on the previous page, I put the date of the Paris marathon down as 3rd April - it should be the 10th April of course.

If your interested, Ive a computer file of headed paper from a doctors surgery and and the wording laid out on a Word document. All you need is to edit the word document with your own details, print and stick the header to the top, photocopy and sign then voila a proffesional looking medical certificate that worked for me on 2003.

Just found this thread. I've entered the ballot of FLM too, so could be 2 marathons in 8 days for me too! The closest together I've ever done before is 6 weeks - Robin Hood and Dublin this year, so could be a challenge!

I am lucky in that my best mate is a GP, so was able to get a medical cert pretty easily. Alright for some!

I just missed out on cheaper entry fee as I wanted to wait until after Dublin to see what colour bib I should go for - I was lucky to just sneak under my target so will be getting a red one.

Can't believe they give out wine at 40 k. Fantastic! Perhaps that will cure the stitch that I always seem to get near the end of races.

Anyone fancy running with me for a crack at sub 2.55?

Can we all wear Union Jack shorts please, to make a bit of an impact on the Champs Elysees? i.e. the Brits are here!

Ronhill do 'em at c. £15 retail.
  • Options
Those Ron Hill shorts are VERY skimpy! Give me terrible chaffing!
  • Options
What chance do you reckon of seeing me in Union Jack shorts?! ;-P
  • Options
depends how big your bits are, Ps.

If you hang loose, you'll get whiplash marks on your thighs - a bit of soft tissue to pad it out might be good...
  • Options
Tigs - Runners Shop in Beckenham sells 'em!
  • Options
I think some sexy new running kit may well be required, after all it is Paris - but not Union Jack shorts on me, ta!
  • Options
Indeed no Union Jack shorts Tiger. New running gerar is absolutly de rigeur for Paris.

I'm in, I registered on the French site and was hoping that with my French name I'd get away without having to pay for a medical certificate. No such luck.

    Amended list:

    Calf
    Doug Mayers Kiwi

    See you all there.

I'll be staying in the Quartier Latin as it's my favorite part of Paris and it's not far on the Metro. The food and the bars are great there too.

any suggestions for hotels within walking distance of start/finish?

Sorry OB, can't make any suggestion other than the George V previously mentionned.

You could always go on to: www.0800paris-hotels.co.uk for cheap deals in various locations.
