Mick n Phil, call me what you like, but Dids is fine, and I hale from the People's Republic of Car Thieves ie South Manchester.

Thanks for the info re Leicester. Duly been crossed off the list.

Wolves looking favourite cos it's earliest one in Sep, Dublin or Abingdon cos there's a reasonable gap until them...but I can't help fancying another go at Anglesey.

Last chance for pb possibly? I'm not getting any younger. So, it has to be flat.

Presumably, there is no finer authority on flatness of a course than your good selves?

    Hi dis's

like you i thrive on what i do

just don't know how many race 20 miles and above are left in me

I can knock out the half's with relative ease

Like i say , my Phillip is nearly 17 years. and he's 8.5 stone

Not doing bad though 143 races ah

There's a bit left in the old dog yet

Don't get me wrong Did's , Leicester is great , they all are, but you asked for a flatish pb course

    I'm thinking for you now

I'll check my web site list , soon as i see a course, i'll remember it's profile

    Got Torbay half Sunday

    Bee good

    Take care
    I'll be in touch

    Hi MicknPhil,

I'm O.K. Not designed for hot weather though. I really struggle with normal activities let alone running. Managed 7 miles today, need to do 15+ on Saturday. Treadmill is good but max. 30 mins so far.

Hope you both have a good run on Sunday. Give Phil a big hug from me.

I have really enjoyed this thread but I must really sign off now and join others.

It's been fun, it was nice to actually meet some of you and I may see some again at the 50 mile challenge, I'll be in a Thanet Roadrunners top.

    Bye

to TIA who wrote the following , and your son
a big big big thank you for being there

you have run a marathon by being there for us thank you

to Mick and Phil thank you for being there - Mick you are an inspiration ,
so sorry you did not finish
sorry i didnt have more to encourage you at pasta p and on the day
-but seeing you on the day pushing phil did give me a huge boost i'm just sorry others didnt joint with me in there's only 2 mickn phil- or maybe sarah moo did - she's nearly as mad as me.

Yes, I was at the finish. Come to think of it I was there for 48 hours with, like all the organisers, very little sleep. What did I get out of it? The pleasure of seeing you all at the finish. And, yes, I will do it all again next year. Yes, things went wrong and, yes, you all deserve to have your say and, yes, a great deal of the comments are extremely well put and well deserved. Bottom line, though, my 10 year old son was also a volunteer and he
needs to feel that as a 10 YEAR OLD, volunteering is worth it. At the moment, he's still hurting at seeing the people he adores being slated. Incidentally, my son met Mick n Phil at the Pasta Party and, like me, thinks they are the real hero's here. No complaints.

Just getting on with the life they've been given.

Big up to my wonderful son, just one of the funnel runners on the day.

Does any one else kind of miss Mick "SHOUTING"?

Glad to see youre getting over Blackpool so the not shouting must be becuase you got told off and not coz of being sad.

    Lord Didsbury,

If your happy set of marathons this year have been Belfast and Blackpool you must tell us exactly where you plan going next so it can be avoided.

    Tail-chaf thingy....

amazing isn't it? Live bombs on route in Belfast, tropical weather in blackpool...and they say bad-luck usually comes in threes.

I'll be enteringing Wolves AND Robin Hood as contingency - just in case "something happens" in Wolves.

(Oh, just to add a bit of nagging doubt for you, I will enter Anglesey as a plan "C")!!!

Just a last note before I sign off and lurk on other threads!

Thank you to Ron, the rest of the organisers and ALL the volunteers. A hard job and yes, things went a bit awry but as someone previously posted, us runners are a hardy bunch. Lessons learnt all round for all and with a few 'tweaks' it will be even better next year. Will I do it again? Not sure, but never say 'never'!

MicknPhil - big hugs to the pair of you - keep on trucking!

    Hello Tail Chaffer

I assume you mean missing me shouting

    Well, you know mate,

I don't worry about trivial matters,

I've got far more serious thing on my mind

People get stopped for shouting , swearing etc,

When the real problem is the crime, etc

Quite sad really what peoples mind's focus on

But , i must say in all fairness,
i am having trouble getting used-to a keyboard

I'm off for the weekend , which will probably see the end to blackpool forum,

So to EVERYONE, I'm SHOUTING NOW

Thanks for all your support guy's and girl's

    So longgggggggg

LD.- Wolves isn't exactly flat is it? Perhaps not the best PB territory.

Good luck Mick 'n' Phil - I shouted some encouragement to you both in Lytham, near the green. Sorry you didn't finish.

WrexhamRob - oooh, might be taking a trip up Moel Famau tomorrow - visiting my mumsy for the weekend.

Almost fully recovered after Sunday now. Sunday afternoon saw my entire mouth fill with v painful ulcers and then a zitty outbreak on my chin. Lack of immunity there I think. Enjoyed a couple of runs this week - no Mr WP about to tut at me.

Roz - your 'lurking' on other threads has just made me laugh out loud. I don't lurk enough.
  • Options
    lurking is good fun.

emma - I had the whole mouth ulcer/zitty thing last week too. I also had a couple of dizzy spells at brekkie in the hotel before the start and did wonder if I was going to make the start yet alone finish the run.
  • Options
OB - you had ulcers and zits too? That's reassuring, as Mr WP was saying that running was obviously too much for my health and that I should quit now. Pah. Shut it. Nowt that a bit of Bonjela, tea tree oil and vitamin c didn't rectify!

Dizzy spells are the story of my life!!
  • Options
Interesting spot observation, I just assumed it was running in patchily applied suncream and the ulcers down to eating no fibre and just carbs for a weeks . (at least no tummy trouble though)
  • Options
emma - Mrs OB was citing the ulcers and zits as evidence when trying to convince me of the perils of this marathon running lark!
