2005 supposedly the year I do a marathon, but which one, Blackpool or Anglesey in Sept., health permitting (and getting Wilmslow 1/2M out of the way this WE) Family duties perhaps lean towards Blackpool now, glad to see I won't be the only virgin. Any danger of race filling and if so by when ?
I'm training for this one, but not signed up for it yet, waiting to see how the training goes. Up to now haven't got an injury but going to wait a few more weeks to see how it goes. I want this to be my first marathon
Gutted started training this week and have pulled my achillies already.I have been following the 3.30 training plan. Was looking forward to the weekend long runs really p#*~ed off now !!!!
TB, would love to do both but unofficially anounced Chafelet in the oven due around Anglesey, will be half Welsh anyway without the risk of being born there too.
finished the ROME marathon last weekend in 4.25 hoped for around 4.10 hamperred by the cobble stones but a great place to visit. will start my training slowly next week for a sub 4hr. race ken
Just getting back into training after a couple of medical hitches - shingles, miscarriage, flu. I've had the works. Missed the Liverpool half last weekend - wasn't feeling up to it, but I'm determined to do this run.
Any ladies got any lady-specific training advice?? Or any men for that matter!!?
Well, that's me signed up.........wasn't going to do another marathon until Berlin in September but need some motivation to get me off the couch and on the way to losing two stone.
Did Blackpool Marathon last year, watch out for the concrete.........I badly bruised the bottom of my foot and had to walk/hobble the last 6 miles. Was gutted!
Am determined not to let it happen again (got better trainers now!)
I did a half marathon at the weekend, can't imagine running twice as far - but then I remember feeling the same at this point last year, and I did manage it.
current plans on hold, did 1 mile of 1/2M (Wilmslow) at WE and sprained ankle, ran another mile then pulled out, interesting colours already, despite ice and strapping. would have been worse if I was on schedule at mile 10 than mile 1 but still a bit of a pain really.
Emma, any particular targets for Blackpool then? I think to be able to run it at all will be an achievement. 13 weeks to build up long runs to 20 miles and fit in 2 or 3 of them and you should be fine. We'll see you at the start.
Ultra Hamster - you look so cuuuuuute! All fluffy, dinky and hamsterish. Mind you don't get caught in my hooves though.
I agree that running a half seems long enough without having to do it all over again, but my longest run to date has been 18 miles. I guess the last few miles just sort of 'happen'. Also, I love running in the heat too and 2003 was particularly warm. Rainy last year, but thank the Lord not as windy as it can be in Blackpool!
2004 saw 537 finishers out of an entry of 823. So far 840 entries for the full marathon 2005. Only two marathons left in the NoEng now, got to keep this growing one going.
I fancy this. Can stay with parents in Cumbria or bro in manc. Not hopeful of making start of FLM and can defer and do this (or even do both?) When is closing date?
:-) Hey, At the moment I have no blisters and I haven't lost any toenails this time round yet- so sandals are still on the cards! Hoping for sub 3:45.- But not far enough into training to know whether it's possible: Distance shouldn't be too much of a problem, but 8:30m/m ? Still got a long way to go- Hence the Wibbles ;-)
PS- I think they accept entries right up to the day.

Sorry
Tail-chafer - do both why don't you?

Also, welcome to the newly signed up.

Amazing really.

How many people take part in this one?
I ask as the result for 204 appear to show only about 400 finishers, yet the limit is 9000!

Dont you fancy setting up one in Yorkshire?
Hi Hipps
Oh, and talking about injuries, and wondering whether your feet will ever look good enough to allow sandal wearing again (not this summer I reckon!).
But definately, no wibbling.
Too late for that.
