Excuse me if I'm being dim here, but what are natural causes?

Anything other than foul play surely, so that doesn't really help does it - ie it would include heart attacks, heatstroke etc - all "natural causes"??
  • Options
no idea. could mean anything i guess.
  • Options
LS - was that you that emailed me? Whoever it was the file is on its way, but as its quite big, it'll take a few minutes
  • Options
Di Rhino - I bet we were really close to each other at the end from the times we did!
I tried to look out for green ribbons during the run but dodging loads of walkers and planning my next overtaking manoever was my main concern for most of the time (I squoze(?) through a few tiny gaps I'll tell you!!)

Got loads planned for the next few months. Last year I had nothing to aim for after the GNR and was on a real downer after feeling so great. Doing the Great Cumbrian half in Oct, the Leeds Abbey Dash and the Llandudno 10miles in Nov, a couple of 10km's in the blackburn area in Dec, the North West half and the Wilmslow half in early 2006 so that should keep me busy for a while!!

Oh, and I've entered the FLM and pre-registered for the next GNR!!!! I love this running malarky!!
  • Options
RM - I've just emailed you.
  • Options
Hello mandie R-Will see you at carlisle for the gcr.Ive also entered for FLM and will be doing gnr next year.
  • Options
    Oh, just remembered something else...

Re non-finishers - I know at least one forumite finished the race but his chip didn't work, so he's down as a n/f

not that that would explain 12,000 missing people... but then I think many of those are non-starters as well as non-finishers
  • Options
evening all, yes mandie a fellow blue! best times we've had since the eighties i reckon at the moment. it becomes addictive doesn't it, this running business?!
my flm entry going in the post soon!
  • Options
mandie - squoze????!!!!! that made me LOL!!
thats a very full schedule you've got planned! i've got derwentwater 10 mile on 6th nov and brass monkey in jan. just hoping i can get rid of this achilles tendonitis so i can train properly. then i'll be really happy!

alison - LOL at your rhino run too, silly bu99er! :o)

cant believe its still taking so long to catch up on all the posts 2 days after!

Jacks - you say maybe you're just not meant to be a runner - rubbish!!! did you enjoy your training (most the time)? do you feel better about yourself? then you're a runner. dont be hard on yourself and very well done xxx
  • Options
    hey

i've found out my time and finishing position but how have people found out about their surnames etc???

    thanks
  • Options
    Whats wrong with squozing???!!!

Bradnor - Had a season ticket up til last xmas when I had to make a choice of going for a 10 mile run or going to the match and the run won!! I've been warned to stay away from the games now cos we have done so well since i stopped going....suits me - I get to do loads of training and City are going to win the league!!!!!!!
  • Options
i didn't get to go up last season at least we've got a team with some spirit now!
i coached a local side but same as you , much preferred to go for a run so gave it up! wot time did you do?
  • Options
nothing mandie - thought it was fab!!! :o)

jenny - just put your surname in and no other details
  • Options
2hrs 5mins - we could do with putting our finishing times onto the list of predicted times. I've not got time tonight to wade through all the messages on this thread but I'll try to find a copy tomorrow and start us off (unless anyone else wants to volunteer that is....hint hint!!!)

Off now - will catch up again tomorrow night

    :-) xx

Thanks RM - just got the spreadsheet!

    well done everyone

    i finished! :-)

ok, so it took me a long time 3:22:26 but i did it!

iv got the worlds biggest blister, 3 toes didnt come back to life until this morning, i had to shout at myself at 6 miles to convince myself i didnt have blisters, and as i went over the finish line i took my shoes off!

i really struggled in the first 2 miles but improved a bit after that (ok, only a bit but first 2 wher torture)

i saw a green ribbon on the floor at 11 miles and strangely it made me start running again!

i really did enjoy every second of it tho and cant wait to be back to beat my time.

people complaining about people lining up too near the front - i lined up right at the back but on the right hand side so probably started before some faster people on the left, sorry if i got in anyones way.

    right, what next? :-)
  • Options
    well done san :o)

dont worry about getting in peeps' way. its very well known that this is a crowded event and if peeps dont want to have to dodge around and get stuck then they shouldn't come to do it. just ignore anyone moaning! :o)

    xxx

How hot was it guys? All the tv and web reports are talking about it being stifling. Curious as to how it felt, especially when the winner got such a ridiculously fast time - it certainly looked sunny. My mum-in-law lives on route and is forever trying to get me to do it - so i will try the ballot next time.
  • Options
Di Rhino - I've already tried that with no success!
  • Options
did it not work at all jenny or did it just give your result?
  • Options
    hey there gymbunny,

the winners were well finished before lunch time when the sun came out,

it started off quite cool and got very warm by lunch time

us back of the pack people felt the warm tropical sun for about an hour or so at lunch time.

lots of people were diving for the showers
  • Options
it was warm not stifling i'd say. i remember a couple of runs in may/june now that was hot! still got a vest line from the sun though. give it a go you'll love it.

    hi everyone,

i cant believe there's still so much to catch up on, hope everyones aches are getting better today, i'm a bit worried about my ankle, i stood on a bottle twice with the same foot and my ankle is now swollen, have had probs with it before (got run over a few years ago!) hope it settles in the next few days.

there was some more info in the local news abouth the men who died for whoever was asking (sorry i cant remember RM maybe?) they had all trained for the run, it was one guys 24th GNR, such a shame. I've heard a lot of stories about the ambulance taking 45 mins to get to one of the guys, i did see ambulances trying to get through the crowd more than once, must be very difficult for them.
