Chris..put it in your race diary.Although its very rural it is all good surface to run on.Was really impressed with how organised it was etc.they have minibuses running you to the car parcs etc
this race was well organised last year, unusually did a PB of 1hr26min there, it was a touch slippy at the start with ice, killer hill after 3 miles and a hard hill into the housing estate at the end but well worth doing.
I loved this race last year (might have something to do with running my PB) and although undulating it is a lovely course. Well organised and a great atmosphere. I've just received my entry form from them, so I'll be there........
OK so I've just completed my first ever half marathon (Robin Hood), I'm a relative newcomer to running (about a year) and I've got the bug! Is this race suitable for a novice or should I look for something a little more user-friendly?
Also did a pb there last year of 1.26, it's a great race - you can't really explain why it is but it just is.
Done the last 3 and plan to do it this year - have hardly run since January so 1.26 is probably out but going to get a couple of months training in and see if I can get under 1.30.
This was my second half marathon, after the Robin Hood a year ago. Highly recommended for beginners, the field is more spread out therefore a much more 'relaxed' feel to the race. You can buy a l/s t-shirt at the end with all the runner's names on the back. I still wear mine with pride! At the end, you get a hat and a cup of soup, which are both gratefully received.
Just a quick update everyone on one or two things regarding Keyworth Turkey Trot. 1. Our online entry is now active. Go to www.turkeytrot.org.uk to find out more. 2. We have now posted ALL our past results on the website. 3. Undulations – there is a course description on the website that gives you some idea about the ups and downs. We have just been out with the GPS and have now added a course profile to the website. In addition, the links> running resources section contains a link to the Dead Runners Society. You can read some independent race reports about the “hills of death”! Just to cheer you up! 4. Finishers memento – they actually vary year by year, we have done baseball hats, beanie hats, mouse mats, kit bags, mugs, etc in the past. We haven’t finalised this year’s memento yet………
Cheers! Harry
PS- Don’t forget that the Crossdale 10k www.crossdale10k.co.uk takes place in Keyworth on the 25th of September.
Looking forward to both the Crossdale and Keyworth Turkey Trot.
It is always very useful if the race organisers post information on the running forum. It means that the runners gain accurate and timely information and that the organisers obtain feedback.
I might do this one. Have just done RH as my first, am thinking of doing worksop on 30th then this. Am I being too ambitious? harry, I havnt had a mug from a race yet so that would be welcome!!! If they give out soup, is there a veggie one?
Hello all-Ive entered this run for the first time. It,ll be my last half marathon for this year[10th].Ive been on the turkeytrott website and read about the undulating hills!!!Oh joy!!! Im travelling down from sunderland and really looking forward to it.See you all soon.
Don't worry about the hills. Done this twice - both times as a 'relaxing' run as normally nov/dec is easy for me ahead of spring mara's. It's always an interesting run and the hills, although testing, especially at about 11m, are nothing to make you cry. If you did the robin hood at the weekend then you can do this.
thats good, some soup at the end of a race on a cold day sounds quite nice. Have just entered Worksop in 30th oct so will see how things go up until then. If I think I will beable to continue to run through the winter and with the dark nihgts I will give this a go
Heledd, your RH running partner here. What a short memory you have, 'Rachels Runners' did this course, albeit the reverse way, in prep for the RH last weekend so get that entry form in immediately gal and improve on our 2:05!
I've just signed up. Looking forward to it, it'll be my 3rd. I'm also aiming for a relaxed run doing it as a trainign run rather than aiming for a PB. Just want my base back (its been eluding me for months now)
I just printed off the sheet with all the info on it that came up after i'd confirmed the data. I also got a confirmation email almost straight after. It says on that email if you vae any questions abotu your entry to go to 'Turkey Trot', 1st Keyworth Scout Group, PO Box 9, Keyworth, Nottingham NG12 5BU i'm sure you could find an email address of the website.

Thanks for that I think I will give it a go.
Can't believe you guy's have a p.b. from that course!
I did this as my second half (after the Robin Hood) a couple of years ago and improved on my RH time by 10 minutes!
It's a good friendly event
My first half was the Robin Hood last weekend and I am going to enter this one. See ya there!
(Darn that bug!)
Done the last 3 and plan to do it this year - have hardly run since January so 1.26 is probably out but going to get a couple of months training in and see if I can get under 1.30.
Enter early as it always fills up.
