Anyone watch it last night? May have been the best telly I've seen all year (but I don't watch much). Seemed to me to be about 50% better than I thought it would be.
I was well impressed and am looking forward to next week. Didn't fancy watching the third episode on E4 after though. Too much of a good thing, etc etc.
Agreed was very good! Though I was expecting a lot with it being a J.J. Abrams show as I'm a huge fan of Alias. I did watch the 3rd episode on E4 and confirm it is just as good as the pilot!
My guess is the island was some sort of experimental establishment, working with animals. Something went wrong all those years ago, and the animals have been loose since. Nice twist in the tale, making the girlie the escaped prisoner. That Oriental couple are a bit weird! Also didnt watch the 3rd episode (too much of a good thing etc). Cant wait for next week
Watched the first part, but lost interest. Very hammy acting I thought, with the usual collection of dolly birds and hunks without a hair out of place - despite crash landing!
Not the right spirit, I know, but I think you have to be able to suspend disbelief, and I just couldn't with this one at all. I've heard that the story has a lot of twists in it though, so I'm sure it will be gripping enough if you can get past the credibility barrier.
IMHO, Lost was the best new show on US TV last year. I've seen all of season one. There are some great episodes. The writing is excellent and it does some good character examination and interaction. As you go through the season, each episode seems to have one character as its main focus. There is a lot of "back story" --told from before the crash -- on the main characters. Each episode might answer one question that was previously left open, but then will open like 5 new questions. If you like the first couple episodes, you will probably like the rest. If you didn't like it, the rest is more of the same kind of thing, so you probably won't like the rest either.
I also like that there is multi-cultural/nationality cast. There aren't that many other shows that have that. Quite a few people from the US on there, admittedly, but that was where the plane was headed. Realistically they probably should have more Aussies.
Yeah the story lines are a bit fantastic (as in out of the ordinary), but it starts out that way so you don't feel like it is untrue to itself later in the season when the story lines are still that way. The season finale was a bit of cliffhanger so I am anxiously awaiting season 2 here in September!
I quite liked it. I think the adverts for it had put me off a bit beforehand but glad I persevered. All that totty dancing around in floaty dresses and dinner suits after crash landing seemed a bit unlikely. You can bet that had it happened on a flight back from Benidorm to Gatwick the resultant scenario would have been quite different. (Now there's a thought for a show....)
I normally get hooked on shows instantly, and i was quite glad that a new show was coming as every other good show seems to have finished for the year. But after about 30 mins i just could watch it anymore, i was really disappointed.
I did watch it 'cos I saw a bit of it in Norway in February (I liked Norway TV, one channel was all American imports so I was in telly heaven!) and wanted to see what it was all about. Watched the third one on E4 and will be watching more 'cos, even if it is far-fetched melodrama, I want to know what happens. And I think McG's making stuff up about robots and the animal experimentation thing is a more likely outcome. Think about it - island in the Pacific, a French voice on the distress signal. I bet it's a reference back to that dodgy nuclear testing in the Pacific.
The best line was when the fat bloke asked Saeed 'army or air force' re. the first Gulf War and Saeed said 'Republican Guard' - well, made me laugh.
I know what happens - it turns out that a little fat Scottish Man has been extracting DNA samples from fossilised mosquitos and has succesfully cloned dinasours - including a family of T Rexs (although why he should want to clone a Mickey Finn and Marc Bolan not clear), and he is planning to open it to the public soon as a gigantic adventure park
I was going to watch it, and then decided that it would be something else to get hooked into which would stop me getting on with more important things etc etc. I was addicted to Sex and the City for six years and can't risk getting into another long term TV relationship again, as I was so hurt when it had to end.

Not going to bother with it again.
Thought it was cr*p.

In fact, all I know is that I watched ep 3. Addictive stuff.
I reckon they've landed on the island out of Jurassic Park.

Very observant of you.
Blast! Loved the first 3 bits. Now I've got to go on holiday and as I get back on Sunday week I'll miss episode 4.
