With you Maddy. I reckon that if I would not have had to stretch about 10 times and would not have had first aid treatment I would already have been 20 minutes or so faster, adding another 20 minutes for the toughness of the course and 20 minutes for the walking in stead of running after mile 16 and bingo! 3.45!
Hadn't thought about Boston I must admit but I think I might keep it at the back of my mind as an option. Quite fancy Chicago as my next US marathon.
Ah back to that "so many marathons, so little time" :-) Though I think we planned our respective schedules pretty well, but they didn't include Rotterdam!
I have even managed to blag my way into the C start group. What nice people the organizers are. Sent an e-mail last night with links to my times and results and got a reply first thing this morning - lets hope that is indicative of Dutch efficiency and how the race is run, I'm sure it will be.
Paul a ... if you get the chance to run Chicago,DO IT.. like all American runs, well organised, great Expo and fantastic atmosphere. The course is very flat, the longest climb is 200m over a bridge at 26m. I chose it this year as my first marathon, 4hrs 51sec, will try to knock the 51sec off at rotterdam 06.
Paul, thats not fair, that means I almost certainly will have to buy the drinks as I am likely to knock about an hour or so of my pb, health and injuries permitting!

Doing this will give me the incentive I need to get out there and do some training!!! Did plenty of training for Berlin but then had a fall and had to pull out. So...I've done 4 runs in 9 weeks. Did 7 miles on Monday, no pains, aches so will go out again tonight and do 8. How many weeks to Rotterdam?
Yes, the Westin looks good. £130 for 2 nights between 2 of us so its a reasonable price. Not sure that I'll be up for using the gym though! Hope they have a sauna/pool. Worked out that its 21 weeks of training. Now I've made the effort to enter, looking forward to it.

It would be nice given that NY was too hot for me and I set out to enjoy it rather than worry about time.
If I train with a little mre dilegence than I did for NY given the stronger base......
Dare I??
Aim for a really big PB!!!!
Why not

Hanneke: you should defo beat 3.45 given your pre NY form, I'd put you down for around 3.30something...
Paul: You are surely being a bit shy with your predictions for Rotters--surely sub 3.00 beckons?
Resistance is futile - go ahead and register:-)
;-)
You can get easy to the start, the race starts early big plus (no heat), wide roads and flat.
Having done London, Boston, New York and Chicago. I would say Chiacgo is the #1 in terms of organisation.

The gym is particularly good.
May have to try for 2007 as my first marathon
Not sure that I'll be up for using the gym though! Hope they have a sauna/pool.

If I train well and with no problems I could well be vying with you for the post race drinks round.
