Maddy, SP and TL were looking at camping too. There's a big camp site right near to the swim start and T1, shuttle buses run between there and the finish area on race day. Better crack on and reserve yourself a space.
looks like the place is filling up faster than ever - all 5 of the hotels I've tried so far say they are fully booked for that weekend! And on the tourist info website, 3 others are showing no vacancies either. Normally at this time of year there's still lots of room, but seems like we already need to go for something a bit further out.
Only 5 in his age group so far too. I've put him down for 11 hours. Haven't told him that bit yet. I'm looking forward to this. part of me wanted to do IMDE again this year as I like Germany but I'm glad I'll still get my Deutschalnd fix in Roth
Right, that's hotel booked for us and the dogs, though I think I'll probably leave Shani with dog club friends as she can be a bit of a pain sometimes. Oz is much quieter and less excitable, and can be happily left in the car for 90 mins or so while John is doing the swim and getting changed.
forgot to say - we have a guy in our club who's one of several triathletes to have completed every single year's race in Roth. Saw him the other day and said I'm entered for next year, he laughed and said, 'so am I but then I have to don't I, not to break my streak?'. He got a real silver medal this year. I'm sure he wants a gold one too.
Looks like I will have to let this one go fo this year getting the cash together when my current job sends in six weeks and I don't yet know if I will get another one at the same salary straight away is just too tight.
If there is still places when things firm up I will enter but it looks unlikely
Its on my list of must do races just not next year - I will see what I can do because I did see this as MY RACE for next year. Fingers crossed for a slow down of entries but it has such a good name this race
IW, doesn't look like We'll get accomodation in Roth. Thinking of looking in Nuremberg. From what I understand that's about 30 km away. There don't appear to be trains running that early on sunday mornings so will be a taxi. Will the taxi be able to get close enough to the event with road closures?
yes, it can go the same way most of us will go to T1 on Sat to check the bikes/bags in, and again on Sunday to the start, down the B2 and left turn in towards the river. Or down through Eckersmuehle, but that's a pretty small road (and it's part of the course). Roads aren't closed that early in the morning - because we all have to get there!
As I said earlier, no chance of accommodation in Roth itself, it was fully booked even when I tried. There's loads of other Gasthause and hotels around the Roth area though. Have you tried any other local towns? N'berg is quite a way away.
can't do linkys Cal but the website is www.challenge-roth.com
2800 registered already and 500 relay teams, only a few places left now for the world's biggest long distance tri, so better get on it now if you want to enter.
OK anyone for 2008? I have started saving already to avoid this years problems. Special Roth pot
In reality it is probably not a bad thing I am having problems rectifying a knee thing so won't be ale to a) drop the weight I planned to before 30 weeks start and b) get the hills practice in I need.

IW, I wonder how practical it is to stay outside Roth? How far away is Nuerenburg?
Just got a 'yes' email from one hotel a few kms away, they have 2 doubles left so will book one right away.
Oh, did you remember to enter Zuppy as a firefighter?
If there is still places when things firm up I will enter but it looks unlikely
Especially when I can pay for BW in installments
