received race info and number this morning so I just need to get tomorrows triathlon done and then I can focus on this one. It seems ages since i did the white peak marathon now I'm raring to go again.
For those who don't know about the camping - it is £1 per person per night in the finish area. There are BBQ facilities and we'll be camping there too so will supply the charcoal.
Annabelle, I have been busy with the Norwich Union City v City event this week and haven't had a chance to see the Edinburgh results - how did it go? I saw Sharon win the Canterbury Half so I know she is going OK.
Very tempting to camp there but I think its going to get a bit too much for our team driver! Have found a campsite in arundel if anyone else is looking for one.
Ello all. Doing this as part of training for an ultra, so off for a 20 miler hopefully in the morning, so no taper for me. Whats this about camping and a barbie? Do we have to sign up anywhere or just turn up the night before?
Anyone know how long it would take to get to the race from Bedford/Luton area?
Back from a great week in the Lake District (with perfect weather, no rain) - did a few good trail runs. Climbed Scafell Pike yesterday too - does that count as good x-training ?!
Going to do 20-ish tomorrow and then taper a bit. Race pack has arrived.
Got my number etc on Saturday. Was disappointed as I'd made a special request for number 50 to celebrate my birthday but I didn't get it :-(
Taff Boy, which ultra are you doing? I'm not tapering either and did 17.5 and 21 this weekend ahead of the Kent 50 mile Challenge (along with Hippo). It feels strange not to taper before a marathon!
Hi Limper, yes it is on the day of the marathon and it just seemed very fitting because I ran my first ever race 5 years ago on my 45th birthday (but then the nice race organisers gave me my birthday number!) ;-))) Are you running/supporting?
I did put a message into the race file for you to get number 50 - sorry that didn't happen. It will have been because the numbers are run into the name database off RW entry system so it probably got overlooked since it wasn't done from the files.
Red, I'd like to say I'm running because I'm not supporting!! However, the term 'running' is rather a stretch of the imagination for what I do whilst in lycra and trainers!!! Actually I'll just be dawdling along at the back, doing an occasional hop and a skip and hoping to finish before bedtime.
I've just been for a walk on the Downs and it is most definitely UPs not DOWNs!!!
Hipps got me a nice new mac and it has a photo booth which distorts your face all sorts of ways. Having said that, I look better on the photo than in real life!
Redhead- meant to be doing the Lyke Wake 42 miler , second week of July. Had been training really well gunning for around 3.15 at Paris and got injured. Out for 6 1/2 weks and I am struggling badly , so ultra in doubt. Did manage a 1/2 marathon within a couple of weeks of coming back, with a marathon the next weekend ( which was White Peaks , two weeks ago). Shall review how I feel after this one, which I am trying to use as a slow long distance training run.
I did see that there was mention of a bar-b-que and camping the night before this one. I will have to stay over given the time the bus leaves. Anyone got any details as I fancy a bit of camping?

Am thinking about camping the night before at the finish so I can get the bus to the start and not have to get up too early.
hope all you marathoners are tapering hard now!

got our numbers today
do we have to return the chip like FLM? and other big races or is it a throw away one??
I was reasonably pleased with 3:02. There was a strong headwind along the coast from 9 to 17 miles, but the main problem was my lack of training.

Plodding Hippo , what do you mean " yer physog? "
Its a Yorkshire expression meaning"your face"
this is my next marathon isnt it
(gawd, i am slipping)
Nice weather here in South Downs area folks. Hope it lasts.

edinburgh seems aeons away now, though twas only 6 days ago

It was hot up on the Downs today folks. Sizzling.
I'm not tapering at all. Possibly because I'm not training either!! Whoops.
aha me too
Our team number is 40 - I'm sure we'll get overtaken fairly early on by all you speedy marathon types!
wossat then
