Can those that did the event at the weekend please pass me their contact details so I can get you added to the list for next years event (you won't be spammed don't worry) it's just so that the organisers can let you know next years date, prices etc...... hopefully they can send you the results too - I did ask for them and they're being chased up as you read this
I've still got it I'm sure. I just don't want to pass it them on with out the say so....
If I practiced on the bike I could be really competitive I think, that's where I lost all my time pretty much. Can't wait to get the results and start analysing (sad I know but I have a free day today)
Definitely worth spending a bit of time on the bike - as that's 50% of the event really. The row is probably the least important thing time wise. (but don't let the organisers know that, or they'll have us rowing for 10km or something !) ;-)
Hi all. Good to meet you all. Ironically my back is feeling much better this week but wasn't taking chances. I want to see the results as I came second to last in senior men I think. Lesson of the day: Don't forget to warm up. I went out completely cold and got cramp early on in lap 2!!! You live and learn.
I reckon my workmate Barbara did pretty well to come third as well.
Anyway thanks again Rob, I hope to be fit enough to do the whole thing next year. I think you've already got my email??
A mate did 3 last year, not sure where abouts they are but i fancy them as well, that's if I drop the rowing lark for a bit over the summer - a new target perhaps, become a triathlete
I started off really fast as the occasion got to me, and would have pb'd by a minute if I kept that up, but took it steady to finish with what I have done in the past.
And should I keep my knees together when rowing ? I think I do, but no real reason why !
Your technique didn't look too bad actually but you need to rock the body over some more (you were rowing a little rigid) but your time is good considering you don't use the machine
I need to rock my body ? Is that over backwards a lil more ?
I'm v pleased if that's all I need to do 'cos I just picked it up from the diagram on the machine. I do see some peeps on the rower and know that they aren't getting it at all, hands arms and stuff all over the place. And one guy fell off his rower ?!
I see you have Indoor races at the Velodrome. My wife suggested an indoor tri - straight up onto the boards on track bikes after the row - now how much fun would that be ! ;-)
Funny about the velodrome. I was thinking the same thing the other day. The run might be a bit boring though as the only thing within reach is the huge velodrome car park, Asda next door, or the equally dull dual carriageways beyond!! Oh, I suppose you could do a lap or two round Sport City though that might be alright.
Comments
I'd be interested to see the times, didn't set off my stopwatch so only know my cycling time from my speedo.
Are they posted yet?

Thank you

I'll definitely be up for it again next year, and hopefully be more competitive ! ;-)
Do you need my e-mail or d'ya still have it ?
Cheers.

If they make the row longer say 5k, it'll give the rowers a fairer chance I think over the triathletes.
3k is too short over 5k I could probably make up 2min30sec I reckon
Best fit lights on my bike.
Oh well, 5k would be spot on I reckon, seriously but it'd take way too long to set people off and get the event completed
It'd have to be clear in the rules what was being aimed for though, or people would get confused.
3 k is fine maybe 4 at a push. there's a whole series of these rowing tri's over the summer I think
That could be worth looking up. (at least until I learn to swim properly !)
I don't think it would be good idea to factor times, gets abit complicated then.
4k at a push.
Cougie did you get out of breath doing the rating that you did?
Or did it save your legs do you think? I did mine at 26 and that was fine for my legs

26 SPM is the number of times you pull the chain in a minute (push the foot plate), you started off at 54! well done
I keep my knees together so you can use the quads better (big muscle and all that)
Hey - I did the knee thing right then ! I'm a natural ! ;-)
i presume you are all aware of the indoor tri (row/x-bike/tready) at sandown in feb (i know coug must be from tt!). more of a supersprint!
Elite Ironman, Ultra Trail Runner
As soon as i see the results I shall let you know
I don't fancy an indoor tri - plus Feb is the start of the 8's season in rowing

Any results yet for Sunday???
I do suspect the track part might be carnage though. Still - only 60 laps to do !
Carnage as you say, especially if they can even fall off on the rowing machine!
