Kim Thomson from Emmerdale. Had to look up her name cos I don't really watch it. I used to fancy the pants off her in the '80s when she was in Brush Strokes (remember that?!), then she turned up in Emmerdale (which I don't really watch) donkeys' years later...
Very nice ! Phil you have great taste, Louise Lombard as well !
i think that you cannot really tell how well anyone has aged unless you see them in real life withouit any makeup.........
the phots in papers can be toughed up to make them look brilliant or rough as dogs depending on what the papers are wanting to say.......
I'm happy to look my age........my only problem is that I have to dye my hair because its grey..........If i had short hair i would happily have it naturally grey.........but its long and so long grey hair would make me look like a witch or worse..
and the reason i keep it long is because my husband likes it long........( I would prefer it really short).........and as he supports me in all my long distance stuff and he babysits whilst i go away to races etc.......keeping my hair long for him is a fair bargain :0
seren, if you can get Kim Thomson, Louise Lombard and Lysette Anthony down the pub in London Bridge this evening I'll happily evaluate them in the flesh. Might even buy them a drink.
I met Joanna Lumley last year.... A crushing disappointment ,,,, granted she said the same
She was at an event run by the organisation I work for, but I couldn't be there. I asked someone jokingly to get her autograph and was regaled with a piece of paper that said 'Where the fuck were you, Peter... Joanna Lumley'. Genuine they claim.
Thanks so much James, what you wrote was very helpful. I love short fast runs, I do marathons for the challenge but really, I'm a 100m sprinter at heart, I should really use that more. I am fortunate in that aside from massive blisters at two previous marathons, I've not succumbed to running injuries, not to jynx things. I think I'll focus on 10Ks and halfs between now and October and see how fast I can get.
BTW James, you should persuade Dawn French to do the marathon.
Big G: well done on the weight loss, I am sure a stone or two lighter would help me immensely. We'll see how I go with following some 10K/Half schedules.
JMopper, I think it's great that you stated "getting your legs to a point where you can run the distrance is the easy bit - especially if you've done the distance before." This is why I don't really see this year's race as such a personal achievement for me having done it before. Once you've done a marathon, it's very unlikely you'll ever not finish once you've started IMHO. I agree 100% too that what hurts more is time on your feet and the easier the whole race is when you are out there less. It's why my fastest marathon was my easiest vs. the ones where I was relegated to hobbling to go back to the original topic of the thread... Good advice guys, thanks!
BTW, has the topic of Eddie Izzard's back-to-back marathons been discussed a lot here?
DF3 is alive, welcome back dude! I don't know much about the Eddie Izzard thing as I've only seen clips here and there, does what he did annoy you DF3? You didn't find it even a bit inspiring?
Phil - I doff my cap to you. Used to watch House of Elliott just to see Evie Interestingly she is only 2 weeks older than me but she still looks feckin amazing.
I don't know if that was her real hair or a wig in "The house of Elliott" but it always used to annoy me that I could never get my bob to look as perfect as hers!
Imogen Stubbs in the BBC's late 80's adaptation of The Rainbow. Her 'clinch' with Kate Buffery being a particular highlight as a 17 or 18yo at the time with hormones running riot!
Oh dear, I saw an interview with Imogen Stubbs once. She was as interesting as dried grass unfortunately. Nothing she ever did in the way of acting ever made up for that afterwards....

More posh '80s TV totty wearing well: Louise Lombard, House of Elliott. Phwoaarr! (OK, she's not that old, but she's older than me.)
Kristin Scott Thomas is 52.
Sorry Max. I prefer to keep photos of myself off the interweb - too many strange people about.
There are only 2 that I know of but I'm not telling you where they are
But just to confirm I do NOT look like Fern Britton. Or Phil Vickery....
Felicity Kendal ... 66, Puuurrrrrrr
Toms out of the way now as well!
Very nice ! Phil you have great taste, Louise Lombard as well !
Hold on a minute. I've just realised Max called me "Scream into the pillow!!!"
:-O
Lysette Anthony, "Three Up, Two Down" with Michael Elphick. I'm on a roll!
Dawn French

Ooh that Vegan thread is tasty. Thanks Screamy

Yes, it was certainly discussed around the time he was doing it.
On the train David?
I started watching it on YouTube but couldn't find the ending. While searching for Eddie Izzard on here I found this delightful discussion: http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/forum/beginners/just-awoken-from-a-coma-can-i-run-the-vlm-/246937-2.html

She looks better now than she did then IMO.
But maybe old and wrinkly really is the way to go?

Hmmm.......
It works OK for me !
Aah, Evie's bob! *wibble*

Anyway some hot older men to redress the balance:
Richard Armitage
Richard Armitage
And can I mention...Richard Armitage?
He's hardly old !
