Marlow Tri is on the Sunday, 23rd June I think (when I will safely be unpacking my bike in the Pyrenes ) - we were looking at Sat 22nd. But its getting dam annoying - all these races getting in the way of our training
OC - you can either get the train form Paddington to Reading and bike up to Henley, or get the Reading train from Waterloo and get off at Wokingham and bike up (I could meet you at either and escort you )
Still checking the dates with the family caladar but 14th July is a no go as I will be doing Marlow HIM, with Cheggers by the sound of it. Hopefully I can make the 22nd June.
Jamie, thanks for the offer, but I can't do Sunday. Saturday, ie tomorrow is my big day in the week. I don't know where you live (I'm in Gloucester) but I have a free day until mid afternoon.
Plan A: Swim in River Avon at M50 junction 1/ M5 crossing area. (near Tewkesbury and Upton) Followed by bike in the same County. There are good roads.
Plan B: Billy no mates turns up at Lake 32, pays his money and does a lake swim and bike in prep for next week's Cotswold 113 (HIM).
Plan C: Billy desperate for mates, says bllx to the swim and turns up at Tesco for a bike ride with the tri club. This option is adopted if "the alarm clock didn't go off Sir", ie hungover.
Plan Excited people say that there is definitely a group ride in Henley. I start to drink lots of coffee and prepare the bike.
I had a pleasant 2hr pedal round the course this morning though. I'm crap at going downhill but found the hill (How hill ??) more enjoyable to get up than go down - although I might not agree when I'm going up it for the third time. After the hill is lovely though, I had the wind behind me and it was pretty well downhill all the way.
Hope it all fixes quickly Jamie. My running seems to be improving (at last) but I'm wandering off topic so will say no more.
Brooko, happy Birthday: would that be Trench Lane lake "Bristol Open Water" near M4/M5 junction?
I've used that a couple or three times. It's significantly warmer than the other place I've been, ie Cotswold Lake 32, but L32 is far prettier.
Swim for me, at the local pool. Not quite a scrum, but not the quietest either. 2km done in 51 minutes. I don't know how my time will convert into lake times with a race start. I only hope I can still see the washing machine as it vanishes across the County.
Can't do 22nd June. It looks like I'll be investigating the route solo on a SATURDAY. Has anyone got a set of directions or easy to follow map?
Thanks Blisters...Yep Trench lane...think it was about 18 degrees. It's pretty easy to get to (I live in Taunton) and I was able to take the wife shopping to Cribbs Causeway afterwards !!
In terms of times, I reckon a wet suit and open water is about 5 mins faster than the pool...I think key things for me are not to panic and try to get the breathing right...first few mins were horrid, but after I got into a rhythm I enjoyed it. I've got wimbleball this weekend and it's very cold there - hopefully today will give me a bit of a confidence boost.
Shame you can't make the 22nd..I am keen to try to do the couse again if possible and could try to make a Saturday.

At the time we start, most people would be off the roads by then?

I might make the 22 or the 23rd. Binned Bristol sprint due to running problems.
I can't do today this week as I'm working sadly otherwise I would.... Can't do next week either as I'm racing too....
cat - everyone seems too have running problems at the moment myself included I picked up a bit of a calf injury
Option B adopted. 2250m swim, 30 mile bike. Got navigationally challenged a few times. At least they have marshalls on race day.
looking like Sat 22nd is the preferred option??

Good session Blisters. Hope you heal quickly Jamie. Count me in for the 22nd
I'm away on 22nd, otherwise I'd be with you.

Let's hope it's warmer than last time eh? I think most of us were underdressed and shivering outside Starbucks at the end!
I can confirm 22nd now. Will be great to meet up again and maybe a few new faces too. Any one thinking of a run on the course too?
