not quite sure how to use the wifi yet on the 620. I've installed the express fit software, plugged the usb in and put the watch in the cradle and selected my wireless moden and put in the code. But if I hit the conenct button it won;t find any wifi.
Also is there a version of the Garmin app on Android for this watch yet? I have one but it wil only pair with Garnin Edge devices.
The apple App is called garmin connect hunt for that name.
So in Garmin Fit Express, you have added your wireless network, might need to restart the watch. Also it doesn't work from what i can see on a N network, So your wireless network needs to be G compatible.
aha that's very helpful thanks. i think my box is N which is a bit of a pain.
I also have a the feeling that the android app isn't released yet so will wait a few more days. At the end of the day the USB cable is plugged into my PC all the time so its not really any hassle to just upload the old way.
Sweatshop have it exclusively at the moment. There's a code on the previous page for 10% off. Alternatively if you subscribe to the RW magazine use the link at the top of the page and you can get 15% off as a subscriber.
Hi guys. Keen to order a 620 for myself and a 220 for my wife. I can't get the MTALK code to work on SweatShop and the RW store doesn't seem to have any link to these watches. Am i doing something wrong? Any trick to get the MTALK code to work? Not that I am keen or anything but would love to be running with the 620 as my 210 seems so old school now.
I had a similar issue when I tried the discount code. It turned out to be some sort of issue with using Internet Explorer, when I tried FireFox it went through fine.
Also on another thread Daeve pointed out that your wireless router needs to be set to channel 11 or lower. any higher channel and the software cannot see it.
So if you set it up and the garmin software cannot see the router make sure it's set to channel 11 or lower.
Well i'm an idiot, i was try ing to enter the wrong wifi code so no wonder it wouldn't work. Now it's set up i might actually have to get out and use it tomorrow!
It can do it through the watch, from what I can see... Don't trust that 100% as I have 620 but read back and the fitst plot shown showed cadence on a 220 so I believe so.
Had my first run with it today (after finally getting on my WiFi - not working on any channel above 11, but wasted 2 days figuring that out). Seems good - the new HRM and strap are awesome - no dropouts, no spikes, no going mental after 40 minutes like all my previous straps did (Garmin and Polar with the garmin HRM) on the 610.
Not quite sure what to make of the vertical oscillation, and other cool stats yet - maybe after I've had a few runs to compare (not had a foot pod to measure cadence before).
Irritatingly the watch uses a completely different set of records to your Garmin Connect account - surely a firmware update would allow it to sync them?
Not sure how the watch is calculating VO2max either - it seems to give the same result as Garmin Connect (not sure if they are synching or not).
Overall - great product - less bugs than the previous 610 had on release, seems accurate so far.
Question for you new owners of great gadgetary. How bright / vivid is the data on the screens and the colours. I was comparing my 610 screen to a 620 screen at an expo, and the 620 screen looked very washed out without the backlight. Not sure if this was just a mistreated demo watch ???? Interested to know how you find the screen. Ta!
I'm not sure its a Sweatshop exclusive for that long Muttley as Wiggle says December??
In daylight running I've not noticed any difference really -but I get the washed out feeling from looking at it indoors in poor lighting. In use - screen could be better as could the 610s but it works. The backlight is damn good too if needed. There aren't really any colours in normal use that I've noticed.
I sold my 210 the other day for what I paid so have been on my Polar s625 and although the HR strap is very comfy it was very poor and I think it changes depending on clothing. I am messing with WiFi and updating Apps etc to give it a go tomorrow!
Not sure the link will work... but it has the extra graphs I will lock this PM for security. Follow on twitter or garmin connect @totriornottotrior totriornottotri
It is a very nice gadget. Everything it has could be got from a book or table though but it is very convienient. Within minutes of starting running the recovery advisor is telling you that your in good shape to run.
The Cadence, Ground contact and height are there and probably not much use except for future analysis or drills. My brother confirmed live tracking worked which is great for piece of mind. At the end it syncs with WiFi network or Bluetooth to phone and uploads data. It then gives you a predicted VO2 max, race time predictions and recovery time. 18hrs was my quote which makes sense, tomorrow morning if I fancy.
Looking at the data. The GPS line is so flat! The spikes are where I stopped to tie shoelace and where I had to wait for mate who hadn't made road crossing. Impressive.

620 ordered ...now come on Mr Postman!!
Thanks for the tip on the subscriber code, £55 saved
For those with the lowly 220, you can get the firmware update application from here. http://connect.garmin.com/firmware

Hi all... just a question for the (lucky) ones out there already with the 620 on their wrists. Where did you buy it? Online?
I will love to see (and maybe even use) the information that you can get with the new toy.
Thanks!

I think sweatshop have realised people were using 15% here and didn't like it.

Oh by the way, by default it saves in smart mode. So changed mine today to save every second

I've had a 305 for five years, thought it was on it's last legs but it turned out to be just the charging base. Works perfectly.
Really, really want a good excuse to get one of these. Told Mrs C I may get one when I get my annual bonus but that isn't until June next year.
Wonder if I can get away with buying one for myself as aChristmas pressie? An early one at that........
Is it as good as I think it may be for the stat loving ' I could spend the day in Excel analysing it and making pretty pictures ' me?
Does the 220 require a foot pod for the cadence data or does it do this through the watch itself?
It can do it through the watch, from what I can see... Don't trust that 100% as I have 620 but read back and the fitst plot shown showed cadence on a 220 so I believe so.
Here re is the dcrainmaker review see what they say as well http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2013/11/garmin-forerunner-depth-review.html
Thanks BT, that's a great review by dcrainmaker

A few observations.
Amazon have the 220 from 1 January but the 620 is from 1 April so I assume that's how long the Sweatshop exclusive is for either model.
Handtec are selling the 610 for under £170 so it looks like there's going to be some discounting and inventory-clearing going on.
No sign of big problems on the Garmin forums, you'd expect the early adopters to have flagged up issues by now so looks good.
In the meantime, I'm waiting for non-hrm version of 220 to show up in Sweatshop; I won't buy from Amazon on principle.
