Well I didnt think last nights was too bad. Even going into the Extra Shot with no warm up - I did better than I normally do - and I'm usually a bit sluggish to begin with.
Only 51 minutes tonight ? That's good - i can spend the rest of the night doing my tax return. :-/
I love the Trainer Road. Most of the sufferfest vids have been so hard I've not been watching the screen very much - its all I can do to keep my eyes on the watts and match them up as best as my tired little legs can do.

Two sessions tonight is gonna be awesome.*
*painful
I cannot quite quantify how painful this is going to be. I put my FTP up again too. Stupid move.
Well can't compete with those of you that did the ToS, but finally got myself through an 8 minute test earlier. Crap result of 152, though did notice the speed/cadence sensor dropped out a few times so that might have had an impact. Still, not blaming that. Found it hard to judge how much effort to put in having not done a full test before, and discovered it's mental as much as physical.
Going to start one of the base training plans next week, then re-test after 4 weeks
Yeah that dropping out must affect the result surely ? Try again in a week or so ? Having the right power level will help a lot. Or else your workouts will all be too easy.
Durham, I was in the same position as you this time last year. My FTP was something ridiculous, like 135 or something. i ran through the 20 min power accelerator plan and learned not only how to hurt, but also how to do the tests. Stick at it, it will get better. you're correct, a lot of the test is mental. Do you have a fan set up? I found that a huge help in allowing me to go a bit longer.
finished off ToS tonight. Went for a recovery jog on Friday gone, still feeling pain in my shins. Looks like my trainer road sessions are not over yet gonna take another week off running.
Tour done. Violator was brutal - trying to hit the intervals for the last three "stages" was an art in getting the power up before the start and dropping off before the end. All in all very hard to do on TrainerRoad if your ego insists you hit your numbers. Missed a few but drilled a large majority, setting 5 second, 1 minute, 2 minute and 5 minute power bests.
Had Champagne on ice to pop after we finished (we take this seriously you know?!). End result was being unexpectedly smashed at 9pm on a Sunday evening. Well earned.
I have the highest fitness I've ever recorded on TrainingPeaks. Sadly, my fatigue is also through the roof. Hoping that by next week I'll have recovered and be in the shape of my life...
Also as I had totally forgotten about this in a haze of inebriation and muscle acidosis, did anyone else have problems with the video stopping in Violator? Ours stopped during the 6th set of sprints and we had to work on the TrainerRoad beeps and try (not) to remember how of each many were left.
Are you quite sure it stopped ? I know time stood still a LOT during the course of sufferlandria - but I think its just what happens when you're willing an interval to finish.
I'm thinking of signing up for trainerroad.. I see the tour of sufferlandria just finished.. do they happen regularly? Is anyone using rollers or is at all turbos? I imagine power output on the turbo would be higher so it would have to be one or the other..
I've bought a couple of sufferfest videos and I quite 'like' them
do you stick the power zones it gives you, even if it means you're not flat out? To get the power and cadence displayed I've not hit top gear yet. Does this mean I didn't go hard enough in the test? or is it subtle training and when I retest I'll be rewarded with a higher figure that resets everything else?
Should it be flat out blood, sweat and tears ALL the time?
Double check to make sure you have the correct trainer selected to match yours. Also, does your trainer use different resistance settings? If so, these also need to match the trainer selected in TR.

Yes, but that's time in a Very Dark Place indeed....
(And I pushed my FTP up again because I'm getting over this cold, so it's going to be even darker for me! )
Oh I see what you mean.
Blimey taking the FTP up during the Tour - a brave man indeed ! Chapeau !
Sandbagged
I wish. Wish I'd worn my HRM so you could see just how tw*tted I was during Rubber Glove!

(I'm pretty sure i need to raise mine too - but if i do it at the same time as all this - I really fear i'll break myself)
Day 7 done. New records on The Hunted to boot
Really not looking forward to tomorrow's.
I'm blended.
Anyone want to buy some bikes ?
And a turbo. One careful owner.

Last year they did non-video stage races for the Tour of California. 7or 8 days of pain.
Bkins - theres no way I could stay on rollers and do the intervals that they make you do in Violator for exampe..
That said though - i think Trainerroad is the best cycling invention since clipless pedals.
Done a FTP test today. 2 days after ToS. Jump from 219 to 241, which was nice
thinking what plan to jump into now. Has anyone tried any of these workouts?

Nice one Saint. That is likely due to better pacing and learning to hurt. Imagine what you could do with some rest.
Ok
ive done the test that has 2x 8 minute bLocks.

Maybe you need to raise the ftp. Are you in the PSOF trainerroad team ?
yes Im in the PSOF team - angryfaceman
some of the blocks do hurt, maybe I should redo the test.
