So being a relative newbie, how the hell does a split transition work? Sounds like a logistical nightmare at the end of the race. Guessing whoever I've got spectating will have to bring the car from the start to shugborough hall? My wife will hate that lol.
I'm pre-registered too but depends if it clashes with Wimbleball which I expect not.
justplodon - IMUK do split transitions basically T1 and T2 in different places. So on the Saturday you put your bike and blue bag in T1 and drive to the place of T2 to put your red bag (At IMUK this is 15 miles apart).
On Race Day you leave your white bag (street wear) in T1 and your blue bag (bike stuff) after T1 will have your swim stuff and at IMUK it was transport to T2 to collect with your bike and red bag. The White Bag was taken to Finish for after the event.
It doesn't work too bad as lot's of people travelling between the two at IMUK but the more remote the location the harder it will be I guess.
Hope it helps each event is different but gives you an idea
I did 'The Longest Day' in 2005, the swim was in Chasewater - if you don't look down you won't see the green slime, although probably scoop some up on the up-stroke!!!
Cheers UCW, very helpful thanks. Had an idea it might work like that, though my other half won't like the idea of driving to the finish as she hates driving anywhere lol. Still, plenty of time to sort that out.
It sounds like a pain in the arse if you are without support, there must be some way of getting back to the start to pick up your car, with the bike! I'm sure there are answers to these questions as plenty of people do IM events.
they had split transitions at Challenge Henley - once you got your head around which bag had to go where (and when) then it was easy. And there was a shuttle laid on after the event to get you back to T1.
IM Copenhagen was split transition - was faultless. You dropped your run bag off at T1 the day before then they ferried it up to T2 for you. On the day when you landed in T2 a volunteer took your bike and shouted your number to another volunteer who ran and got your run bag. After the race, you got both bags from T2, no need to go back to T1 at all.
I've also pre-registered. Will be my first IM event. Nervous, but gives me an awesome target to aim for. Am looking for Tri training buds from Chichester area if anyone is interested?

I'm in, depending on when entriies open and if I get the nod from head of finance
Pre registered. Got to be flatter on the bike & smoother on the run than Exmoor. Exmoor date being pushed back.
Could be my first tri, alright runner, ok bike, absolute shocking at swimming. Plenty of time to practise.
Pre registered as well, pretty close to where my old folks live so a double reason to go and visit :P
Unfortunately not...
just under an hours drive will see me there...unlike the hour to do about 8 miles down in Exmoor!

Has anyone actually swum in Chasewater?

I've just pre-registered.
sounds way too complicated if you are without support......
Put your running bag over your shoulder and cycle back to T1?
split transistions are rare in triathlons and ironman......i know I have never done one

IM Germany is a split transition as was IM Regensburg ... they were no problem
Pre-registered
if you have a shuttle to collect all your bits then I presume its further to go back to support at the finish line
oh eck.... i've pre-registered as well....

that sounds good Boquito
all sounds fun! As long as they keep Wimbleball as something to send a shiver up the spine I'm all for another one!

Pre registered and split transitions are fine, did my first Middle distance in Henley last September and no problems
I'd already pre registered for Dublin!
Runner, swimmer, cyclist and triathlete
Devoid of a competitive streak
Who cares, I'm in it for the medal!
You can pre-register for multiple without commitment.
