Self-diagnosis off the internet suggests runners knee - rest, and gentle exercise ... It's not bad.

Booked an Easter break near Loch Lomond though ... image

Ipad being silly and not posting. If you get multiple posts, apologies.

Ahh Sluggie, agree better to have the conversation however difficult.

Take care of that knee Pippi!

We would normally go away Easter but daught has revision sessions in school so that's buggered that up image Mind you I'm just glad she "wants" to go!

I'm off to London Town tomorrow! image

I'm going to see Tamsin Grieg in Women on the verge of a nervous breakdown image

And I know this is too late to be saying but there is a spare ticket if anyone can get into London!!! Message me on FB if anyone can make it!!

Is this a running forum then???????

    oops

(((((((seems like lots of poorly, overworked, stressed and suffering people))))))

    (((((Sluggie's MIL)))))

How funny Spence, just had dinner with friends who mentioned they went backstage to say hello to Tamsin Greig -  went to university with her and they have kept in touch .

Hope the weekend brings you respite and a bit of fun

Thanks all for your lovely comments image  Indeed I will keep swimming.

x-Rays are happening next week and I'm in the system for an MRI so we'll know more after those.

In Feb 2012 I swam the Midmar Mile in South Africa - the world's largest open water swim - and absolutely hated every moment of it.  I've never been so terrified in my life and I had zero open water experience in the run-up to it.

Well, one should never underestimate the power of wine because I appear to have allowed MrC to talk me into doing it again imageimage

It did have a very nice medal at the end though....

Sounds like there are lots of WAISTers and their families in need of hugs at the moment ((((((((WIN))))))))

    Morning All

(((Sluggie and MS))) as others have said I'm sure MiL finds it comforting to know that her wishes are being taken into account and the fact she was ready to talk about it suggests she is at peace with what is to come.......... Still a tough time for you and MS - give him a big Ffannitt hug from me will you please?

We are off t'vets shortly.........the DG had a small lump removed Wednesday under local from "the leg" which is hopefully just scar tissue but once again he's got a build up of post op fluid which is not showing signs of draining or reabsorbing and last time that "dissolved" the tissue and led to his emergency readmission..........nothing so dramatic this time but even so I'm a little concerned image

    Catch you all laters

    (((((sluggy and MIL)))))

    Fingers crossed Podds

My mum has just finished volunteering at her first parkrun image No intention of running one (she's too scared of falling over, apparently - not out of the question, she does have a history of it!!). They put her on barcode duty and she got very stressed - until someone eventually told her that the time she took to scan the barcode wasn't added onto people's parkrun times... image She relaxed a bit after that! image

LOL Daffs - great to see Mother Daffs getting involved though - volunteers are the life blood of races image

My morning didn't go according to plan.......got in the car with all 3 dogs.......turned the ignition key.........nothing - dead as a dodo

So had to phone round friends to find someone at home (on a sunny Saturday morning wasn't easy) to take me and the DG to the vets then home then the AA man came out and confirmed dead battery.........

Apparently when they read the battery it usually says "good / fair / poor / fail"...........mine said "battery worn out" image image  He said it was the first time he'd seen that reading!!

Anyway I am now £85 lighter but have a new working battery......it's the first replacement in 11 years so to be fair the car has done really well up until now image

Posds whilst I think of it, have you booked flights et.c yet for Austria? Was thinking about the fly/train option and thought we should prob look to getting similar times so we could meet?

  • Options

Not in detail yet Meldy and yes absolutely a meet up for travel would be fun!

I finish work on the Weds before so was thinking of flying Thurs late morning'ish?

I think Mr P had a look and fly Munich then train was looking as fast as fly Graz and train (if not faster + more flights) but I hadn't got any further than that.  Am still trying to sort sending my bike by Nirvana but because I am so "isolated" it isn't confirmed yet...

Off swimming now - first training since "the bug" so will be taking it easy (of course assuming new battery is still ok and I actually get there........and back image )

    Laters all

Earlier we can get on the road Thursday the better really, you could come to Meldy towers Wednesday night which may make things easier?

Once grannys inheritance has landed (imminent I hope) I can get on to some booking, Munich sounds good and should be widely available

Tilly the dachshund is on FBimage

  • Options

Sounds like a plan image  I can come straight from work on the Wednesday - I'll have a look at some options image  Had an email back from Nirvana today from my new BFF Brendan saying he can pick the bike up from work and deliver it back there which makes life a whole load easier too image

How are the drugs doing with your lurgy?

Never had any drugs, it's easy to call it a virusimage

coughing fits are subsiding, I'm down to my race weight already, I suspect mainitaining that might be somewhat more difficult!

    Morning each.

Good to see things moving forward for you Melds and Podds.  Planning stuff is always exciting.

No ride for me today.  Church, family lunch then a meeting this afternoon (who's bright idea was that)

I'll try a spin out tomorrow just to see how the legs(and other bits of me) are.

Any racers today?  Happy plodding to all.

Get you lot, running and stuff.

Here's one for the records. I appear to have walked out of church in protest at an intolerant vicar spouting an intolerant sermon. I feel quite chuffed with myself.
  • Options
    Pippi LSPippi LS ✭✭✭

... errrm ... What's your definition of intolerant? But yes you can get them. Some years ago, at another church, we had a visitor talking about the problems in our area, including single parent families - a lot of very disgruntled women!

I nearly walked out myself in protest at the awful music. Loud (too loud!) and with an electronic keyboard with an inappropriate beat and backing track ... in the last hymn that was too high on notes that people couldnt get (but didn't stop them trying) I sympathised with children at school who cover their ears at some singing/music.

It would have been my mum's birthday today. (102!)

We don't go overboard, partly because it's all a bit commercial, and partly because it is very close to my and Mr Ps birthdays. Still, I do always hope that there will be something to show it's remembered ... got a card and some walnut whips! image

I'm going to a local folk club tonight with a woman who had been coming to our photo club for a few months. She was talking with some others about music and saying she had no-one to go with, so I jumped at the chance. It should be good to go somewhere different with someone different. Mr P is on nights so I'm footloose and fancy free ...

Nice news to see your friend Yums. Mind you, Australia is so much closer than it used to be!

    Afternoon,

Hope you have fun Pippi. Coincidentally, it is SM and SB's birthdays today.

Podds, I do hope that everything is OK with the DG's wound.

Meldy, glad that you are feeling a bit better. Love the T cosy.

(((Larry))) you can only do your bit, you can't change how others behave however much you would like toimage

    Noggy, good for you!

Yums, how great that you will be able to see your pal again image, I remember how sad you were when she went away.

I spoke to SB on the phone this morning, he is now in Berlin, will come down and see us next weekend. He did send a nice card though. SM wanted to go out for afternoon tea so we did that, in a nice cafe near the beach. Left a card with MIL yesterday  so we have done our bit image

(((Coco))) PMA will go a long way to helping you enjoy alternative types of exercise.

I have had a hip specialist assessment. Its bursitis and I have to go back in a month for a guided steroid and local anaesthetic injection into the joint. Hopefully 6 weeks after that I will feel the benefits. My hand is mending and is still painful but not so much. I have strapping on it still but not plaster. And I can drive. !!
