I'm nowhere near as prepared as I wanted to be either, but in a strange way it takes the pressure off myself a bit as I'm not expecting any great result.
With your event history I'm sure there's core endurance fitness in there which you'll be able to call on on the day to get you to the finish line
I'm currently in the middle of marathon training (sept 20th) although carrying some timber but can't wait this will be the last tri of the season gearing towards Exmore half Iron next year!
I'm trying to ignore the hills, did a recki a few months ago, and as long as we don't go up the hill from Monmouth to Staunton they will be fine (that's a killer of a hill!)
Paulmanse, no it doesn't go up from Monmouth to Staunton, not exactly sure of which of the two routes he will use. So it could be either the hill up from the river Wye to 5 acres, through English Bicknor. This road was closed last year so the route went up the lane next to it which comes out at Myrestock cross roads cutting a few Km of the route so to elongate the route they added the hill from Pigmy Pinetum garden centre to Speech House.
Seren,I seem to remember that there are no more hills after this one
So, how does the feed and drink stations work? Do you leave your own food there and collect it or do you need to give it to volunteers or do you need your own supporters to be there?
Cannot answer for the pasta party as I am usually looking after the bikes at the Dive center. Run feed stations, you request it and I'll try and provide it! There will be jelly babies and flapjack, bananas and pretzels, crisps and pork stratchings (a request from an athlete!) Another request I am working on for the cycle was chip butties! There will of course be water and energy and sports drinks at all the stops. If there are any other requests will try to get them but if it is your own brand of energy food you can leave it at the stations or bag it with your name on it and where you want it left.
updated the entery list.....only 12 doing the big woody and i'm the only girl.....so i think if i finish the bike its going to very lonely out there on the run...
.Britrisky....If it wasnt for those dammed hills and the fact my legs still arent back working probably I would be loving the chance to race this event........

that's good cause that hill goes on forever! they've done a good job on the resurface of about 20 yards at English Bicknor
duda,..... oh yes I remember the flat section........that seemed to go up and down
Are we expected to memorise the route or is it well marshalled...or a bit of both
i hope its marshalled and signed throughout
if it wasnt I would expect a GPS file to be available

I did it, I've taken the jump to the woody, I'm looking forward to it even more, its going to be a long week.
That's a good question Philomena, I have not even thought about that
Well done Paul!
Are you doing the full distance or the 1/2 distance?
half distance, I'm not quiet cut out for the full distance (yet) - One day
Still a good step up from the Olympic(ish) distance though.
Good on you.
So what is the pasta party like? I only ever went to one at The Grizzly. A bit weird bit okay for fuelling up. Worth attending?
i will be going to the fish and chip shop in lydney for my usual pre race food of fish and chips and a pint
Seren, lettuce know what time and I will nip down for a pint with you.
