Heading off for a gentle run this week to test the muscle and then hooking up with coach to check things over as have had too many running niggles and can't risk more pulls. Running partner's unhappy without me but he'll have to wait until I'm up to his mileage and I need to get him to understand the concept of warm-up rather than setting off at too fast a pace. This will benefit him as historically, towards the end of our long runs, he's flagging while I'm bouncy.
Don Fink's swimming sessions are huge from the outset. I'm not managing to get in all the swimming within the sessions in the allotted time. However, a couple of my friends doing Outlaw had a look and said they weren't doing as much as he states at the mo. They're doing 2 club sessions and a long swim. I managed a 2.5K swim a couple of times in local pools uninterrupted, amazingly. I think this was probably only because I did them both with training partner and there were 2 other people in the lane who we told what we were doing and they were happy to work around us doing their speedwork. Both training partner and I now have aching right arms. I had a sports massage for it last night and he's consulted one of our spin instructors who's a massage therapist and we may see him about it. Not sure if we did the injury together; possibly at a kettlebell class or if it's my old rotator cuff injury niggling and BF being a builder might have a repetitive strain.
In other news, spinning's going OK and we're doing a triple next Tuesday. Not managing to get out on the bike at the mo', just due to working weekends. This will ease off after April. I commute on an old mountain bike each day and use it for ad hoc journeys in the evening. I've also started doing a core class and mixing up my strength training.
Fingers, legs and eyes all crossed for you AliBear.
Red Squirrel - most people around these parts who've used Fink will probably tell you that there's a wee bit too much swimming and a wee bit not enough ('s proper grammar if I say it is, so there) biking
Road to Nowhere - far be it from me to cast nasturtiums on your tyre changing capabilities, but are you somehow managing to pinch the tube when you put the tyre back on?
No pinching of the tube NR. .. I am so paranoid about this that once the tube and tyre are assembled, I go around both sides checking that there's no pinch anywhere. Must admit I've got no confidence at all in my bike or the turbo now.
Is it normal to have massive self doubt about completing Iron distance? I'm reasonably OK about the swim, but need to get in the lakes again as soon as they open and reasonably OK about the run. It's the bike that is giving me my biggest worry. It's my weakest discipline and at the moment won't make the bike cut off time. This is why I'm doing a lot of work on the turbo (as well as a long road ride at the weekend), but because of the amount of punctures, even that has dented what little belief I had in myself. Sorry, I'll kick myself up the butt now and stop feeling sorry for myself.
If it bothers you that much change it, I did 3 IM events on winter tyres ( gatorskin hardshell ) never seen a puncture. The heavier tyres cannot slow you as much as a 10 minute puncture change in the rain......
Thanks guys. I think I will swap the turbo trainer tyre to the Gatorskinz. Nothing to lose right now. Cotswolds Wolf sounds like we've both got the worrying licked

60 mile ride the other weekend in the rain - three p*******s on new(ish) Gatorskins ..... and only 2 spare tubes!! Shit happens ... but still more fun than a Turbo
Ah - ta. I would actually like to get these (sort of) when out and about as I need practice. I didn't have one last year but had about 3 the year before.

Love it Hof, sunday cycling outside was not good for me, im knocking back the lemsip like no ones business. Hopefully ive caught the cold in time.
Here here Nursey
Potty Mouth training went really well last night - 3rd puncture on the turbo in 3 months!
How'd you get a puncture on the turbo?
I'll admit I was wondering that!
improving my personal best for 400m to something too slow to mention, just the other 3400m to get on with

Wish I knew Ghost!
Swim and Bike on Track but still can't run at all.
MRI results due next week, I feel a very long walk may be in my future!
oh no, good luck with the results, and having done a long walk myself you can beat my time of 6 45 at the Cotwold 226 in 2014.
Good luck with the mri results.

It's a jinx.

At least your a reasonable swimmer and runner.
I'm a terrible swimmer, not much better on a bike and used to be an OK runner. I'm worried about all the cut offs.???
What be the P word, Nursey? (Give me a clue if you can't say it.)
