#537 - 9:44:00 Carl look down the side of the pool for the fat bloke with the big tattoo covering left tit, shoulder and the left arm above the elbow, tat at top of right arm and a goatee ..... and the number 537 should clinch it :0) That'll be me. Ed_m, my guessing is you put in a damn stupid swim time and therefore got a damn stupid start time :0) I ran tuesday ( first run in a week !!) and was totally crap, cycled yesterday and was ok. rest today. run friday. bike or rest saturday (probably rest). As you can see, I take my training very seriously. At least I enjoy myself.
next year im going to start close to front (put fast time) and attach a piece of transparent bungee chord to the swimmer in front so he can pull me along and swing me around the turns
Had a look on the website, there are about 900 entrants, not anything like the size of the London Tri but gig no the less.
Does anyone know if the roads are closed becasue some of the ones on the course map are pretty busy, not to mention Stratford is always packed on a Sunday anyway.
Word of warning for the later starters, plan to arrive in Stratford earlier than you need as there are often traffic jams and parking problems late morning.
what do you think you are some kind of elite ? ! you'll just have to fend for yourself like the rest of us... or maybe you'd like us to arrange a police escort to draft you round the bike course... hey now there's an idea.
I don't think the roads are closed Carl, as the race notes "ask" people not to drive around the course whilst the race is underway, and say they will disqualify any competitor who is followed by a car.
You can also get DQed for jumping the traffic lights at the pelican crossing near the leisure centre. This happened to my friend last year on her first ever triathlon, so worth a word of warning.
I decided ages ago to travel down Saturday & B&B it, so will avoid Sunday morning traffic, and can register & drive the cycle course Saturday afternoon.
Stratford claims to be the biggest "pool-based" tri in the UK, so definitely a big no gig!!
I have a cunning plan for the young dazzle - I shall stand at the pedestrian crossing and hit the button just before he arrives......and saunter across so he has to stop!!!
Talking of traffic lights Mr Collier does stop either and they were on a main road junction lol.
Think he thought I was a bit of a wimp stopping at a red light but that ironbar incident came from pulling straight out at an island and im a bit more cautious since.

With 11 people set off in under 3 minutes I can see this is going to be a really busy pool.
