i would agree taxi would be a better option normally, only difficulty is that the traffic can get a bit bad at the beginning of the event and you could end up paying for hanginig around in a queue. I would recommend the first option, get the tram and then walk the last 15 minutes - a good warm up!
hmmm i'll be doing M1 J24, A453 to the centre, off and along B679 to the A60... and look for the rather ambiguous 'sign on your left just before trent bridge' !
and as i said i'll be hanging about by the baggage tent at 9:40ish.
Good luck everyone - weather looks good, part from running into the wind on the outward half of the half.
I'll be the women in the blue t-shirt trying to keep ahead of the sweeper van in the half and then finishing at the same time as the fast full marathoners.
Hope everyone achieved what they wanted. Managed a 1.53 (by my timing). Not quite what I wanted but it was a PB by 3 minutes. Suffered on the climb up to the QMC roundabout and ran out of steam at the end. At least it wasn't hot like last year.
Sorry I couldn't hang around to cheer on all you full marathon runners - hope you enjoyed it
I managed about 1.46 - 2 mins slower than last year but enjoyed it all the same. Saw the full marathon runners on the way out. One bloke running on his own - said he had still got about 11 miles to go - am I glad I only do halves.
First of all a big thankyou to all who sponsored me - I did the run for Lukaemia Research; raised about £400 quid, so brill result there, many thanks. Well I thoroughly enjoyed that today. Quite a bit of people traffic but a great atmosphere. Managed 1:50 so two minutes quicker than I did the Sheffield half. Not bad at all really. Well done to everyone who took part - just getting round is an achievement. Hello to the girl I saw last week in Chesterfield 10 mile. She looked surprised when I said hello today. Belongs to Lincoln running club I believe, anyway, hope you did ok - you were on for a good time when I saw you.
Top race, second only to FLM in my opinion. Organisation and marshalls were spot on, and crowd support was good (always enjoy running past the church goers singing their hymns on the roadside) and thankfully the conditions were good this year.Only grumble is that a number of miles were long followed by short miles - maybe I should leave my watch at home, then it wouldn't matter.
Predicted time 1.18ish Actual time 1.18.52
Womens race looked to be of good quality this year, a group of six passed me at two miles and dissappeared into the distance.
Third dalmation home in 2 hrs 10. Struggled to cope with the sedate pace and frequent stops early on so two of us broke away from the 'pack' and ran the rest of the race in the same time as the first 6 (now that's what I call a negative split!!!)
Well managed to complete the course in 4hrs 46 sec (my timing) was going well until the dirt track getting a twisted ankle and then with the oh so exciting tour of holme pierpoint I just about lost the will to live.
On another day certainly a pb course, hopefully someone out there did one?
mixed feelings, decided to run the marathon in my racing flats, bad decision, knocked the sh*t out of my quads and struggled in pain from the half way point to the finish, bit of a pain having to run up and down the lake in the wind, but i suppose its what us marathoners will have to put up with more and more to keep us runners off the main highways, finished in 3.34:40. was hoping for sub 3:30 easy, ah well back to the drawing board.
mrs yorkshire running man faired better in the half marathon, knocking a wopping 12mins off her pb, finishing in 1.54:40
hope everyone had a good day, at least the rain kept off
Finished in 2:17 (my time) which was a fantastic result for me (first half - only been running 4 months). I feel great now. Maybe next year I can match some of your times!! Well done everyone.
Did 2.10 my best in three go's.Over the moon great conditions did not see as many people down as last year.Well done all especially Erewash.(Im the new boy)

catch the tram from city centre to station street terminus, but you'll still have a 15-20 min walk..taxi may be better option..

Don't give up! I am not local either but maybe it wouldn't help anyway.
How about somewhere like 'around the New Balance stall' at around 9:30?
Good luck to all.
I will use the tram, the walk will
be nice keep the stress levels down a bit.
Good luck to all!
and as i said i'll be hanging about by the baggage tent at 9:40ish.
Good luck to you all for tomorrow.
I shall be with you every step of the way, well at least the halfers, I'm walking Bristol half tomorrow.

GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY!!
Mr FE will be the non runner looking miserable, 'cos he can't run with his arm in a sling.
Good luck everybody. Hope I meet up with at least some of you.
