I only just started running again over the last 2 days, usually get a 'post marathon low' but this one has dragged on a bit (like this thread:-) Can't run further than 3 miles without having to stop, but it does take a few weeks to recover, apparently.
I think the worst part of running marathons is the days after a race, when energy levels seem all over the place. Anyone else the same? What do you recommend to get over the post marathon blues????
a word of warning. I tend to get involved in long running threads on here. It's probably down to having no mates in real life
emma - it's a conscious decision not to run as I had so many lurgies (plus ulcers and zits) in my long B/pool build up that I'm giving my body a break. If it still chooses to p**s about after that then it's in serious trouble I can tell you!
i found a race last night to get me out of my low, but got lost in Stoke and missed it =>lower. actually I've started risking the fells to stop getting bored but I need a race somehow.
I've had quite a good week running-wise - first post Blackpool run Monday (after a steady 25 mile bike ride Sunday - 5 miles in just over 35 mins, then club run Tuesday of 9 miles mostly off-road, then a hardish speed sesh Wednesday of 4 miles with 1, 0.5 and 0.25mile efforts - managed the mile effort in 5:30 and the half in 2:50, so fairly happy with that.
Just checked the race site and final results are up - my time is now only 20 secs off my watch time rather than the 7 minutes before so I guess this as close as we'll get.
May be up for that one, but I need to sort it out with Levi and other commitments. I need Levi's permission!
Tail,
Thanks for the compliment :-) I was racing with a sprinter and I said that a 5K was only a speed session. He said it was and endurance run for him, as he was one of those 60m runners. (Hardly worth putting your shorts on for!)
at the edge hill 5k wednesday night, sorry but that chap behind me was in spitting distance for the last k, so i had to see what was left in the tank - makes me look like a sprinter ! results at http://www.ukresults.net/2005/edgehill.html
back running - club night 5x 1k intervals last tuesday and 5k race wednesday, and 5k Hilly tonight
we're not leaving this thread , its a sit in ! what was awsome Sarah moo ? did you think i ran a 20mile last week nooo or just the singing at mile 18 that u missed considering angelsey - but it would be a plod - hey if i tried 10min miles i may get the sub 4:20? Biastia - whts it like being a vet now??
I don't yet know what it is like to be a vet! The celebrations are on for at least a week and I am in the middle of it all now. Even just got a coffee in bed. A very rare occurance :-)
Went to the theatre in Mold and saw an excellent show by a dance school from Buckley. Absolutely brilliant. I take back some of the things I have said about Wales.
Need to get a 10 miler in today. Nice and easy! These races are tiring me out.

Why don't we just see if we can keep this thread going until 2006? What do you reckon Plodding Hippo??
OB - haven't you recovered yet? Or are you just really taking it easy, just like Mrs OB wants you to!? Zits have returned, by the way.

zits can add a certain something to a girl!
Thinking about the next marathon I can understand, but eat loads of choclate? Sounds to good to be true!
10k next sunday - hope it's not too hot!
OB - what, a giant hurty zit on my chin? That's certainly adding 'something' to my face I can tell you! Like a paper bag...
How about you Biastai?
Biastai is just a sprinter these days so unlikely

emma - is it at the popping stage yet?
Hippo - you'll be pleased to see there's even another Blackpool thread now. Oh joy!
