Jog*jog*jog, the Gorilla Run is in central London in aid of the Dianne Fossey foundation.
It's late September and you have to pay £100 for the Gorilla suit (which you get to keep!) and raise a minimum of £400 then you get to run across Tower Bridge dressed as a Gorilla and freak all the tourists out. What more could you want?
The entry numbers are fairly limited though (think it's about 500) and it's a 7k. Check out www.dianfossey.org/greatgorillarun for more info.
hope you realise if your racing as santa and not one of his little helpers then you have to have alot of stomach padding and do the Ho Ho Ho for the entire length of the run (?)
Is there anyone from the Bolton area running? With the earlier start, I could do with a lift or I'll have to spend Saturday night in Liverpool (the first train on Sunday wouldn't get me there until 9:18).
Here was me thinking it started at 11am, no idea where I got that idea from! Getting v excited about getting the suit, and even more excited about the run, it sounds like it's gonna be a fun one. And busy, if they manage to beat the record of 3,446 running santas!!
Yup, short of staying overnight, it precludes the participation of loads of others.
I really wanted to come up, but its just not possible because its too early. Would've thought a slight course change would be preferable to diminished participation if you are going for a record?
IM if you stay over the night before I'd certainly meet up for a pint. There's loads opf cheap Accor hotels - Formule 1, Campanile etc.
My number arrived in the post yesterday and I picked the suit up at the 10k
I'm running this one with my 12 year old boy, his mate and his mate's dad. (They all run at a respectable pace) Its a shame the pubs won't be open. Does anyone know - are there any coffee bars open? - we could meet up for a coffee afterwards - it would be fun to meet other forumites. I met up with others in Dublin after the Marathon and it was a great atmosphere. My site for misc race information
Entered online and have only received a confirmation e-mail with unique reference number.(no race number yet) The starting time is given as 10.00. Has this changed?
i got my number thursdsay, will post it here when i got it with me, think its 1171 good idea to meet up after, i dont know liverpool but if theres a starbucks there always open early and serve christmassey coffees! i need to get my santa suit posted to me as its very unlikely i will be there on 20th but theres no contact number in race info! i hope it fits! im 5'11 and not exactly slim!!!!
Couldnt copy and paste that list it all went wrong.
My number is 2331 and im aiming for sub 35, coffee would be great, unsure if im bringing the family, will have to see closer to the time, if rugby gets cancelled then they will be with me and running the mini dash!!
Not got my suit and have no idea how to get it, there was nothing in the envelope remotely relating to instructions on how to collect/post the suit, can anyone help???
I have to say they aren't helping themselves by starting at 9.30. I would have thought 10am was fine, and that was the start time when i entered. Looking at the instructions they expect us to gather at 8.50. Given I have a 2 hour drive to get to Liverpool, I am having serious doubts about bothering to turn. Seems a hell of a lot of effort for a 25 minute fun run.
I'll be there for coffee, aiming at 22 minutes for the run (number 944).
By the look of it, I'll be staying at the youth hostel on Saturday.
I wonder if there's anywhere to leave kit. The instructions say not to leave bags in Old Hall Street or the City Exchange Building. Perhaps I'll get a sack and carry my stuff round with me.

May have to have a look
Should be brilliant - we should arrange to all meet up afterwards for a drink :-D
i am 5'7(natasha of the above couple) i hope santa has long legs!! cant wait for the day should be a laugh
Can't wait to collect my suit on the 20th.
Can't really complain because that is understandable but it makes it more difficult for people coming from outside Liverpool, such as IM.
